I finally understand why Americans should tip

Last night we were seated in a restaurant in Greece, when an american family of 6 showed up.

When they started ordering drinks it already became obvious, all the extra requests “this drink has to have ice, this one no ice” etc. Okay fine I suppose everyone has their preferences, but it was only a warning for what was to come.

By the time they received their menu’s they started dissecting every single dish. Reconstructing everything and making some insane requests. It took them 20 minutes to order alone! Taking out 4-5 ingredients each and adding other stuff.

You have spaghetti? You have beef? Okay I will have spaghetti and meatballs. “But sir we do not have meatballs” but you have beef right?
Then even started coming up with dishes that weren’t even on the menu at all like chicken alfredo.

Obviously when you go that far you really need to leave a tip for all the additional work required to “serve” you..
Meanwhile I feel bad asking them to cut a single ingredient from a dish and will just order something else entirely instead.

Also why are they so loud?
