I was messing around with some erode decks before strixhaven released. I never really found the erode/path plan effective but clearly some people made it work, even winning challenges. Ultimately though I think that deck was good only because of Phlage. Anyone think it will survive the ban?
Why are Simic Ritual players splashing Black for culling ritual? It doesn't seem to be good into the matchups it's designed for? Against Boros if You're playing it t4 on the draw you are losing. If you're playing it on the play you MIGHT stabilise t4 but you'll already be at a single digit life total, probably without a board so you can't flare of denial their phlage.
Meanwhile against affinity it seems alright, given it wipes their artifacts as well as creatures, but it doesn't touch Kappa cannoneer. Even if you resolve it turn 3 off a gemstone or a lucky coracle odds are they'll have a kappa down T2.
Prowess it seems nice in that it answers 100% of their threats, but prowess goldfishes a T3 kill and we have no effective interaction really on the draw. Also prowess can always sandbag a threat given they can kill with a single creature.
I've been playing red instead but my local meta only consists of Boros. Red seems to have an edge because pyroclasm is miles better than Boris. It loses hitting bombardment and flipped ajani ofc, which does suck, but it's half the mana and let's you still develop a ritual onto the field while killing spyro and flipped fable. There is no affinity in my locals but red also allows you to play meltdown which is a far stronger response to affinity. Red is worse against prowess ofc, because it can't answer cori or levelled Darcy once they resolve, but prowess isn't that big in the meta at the moment while Boros and affinity are on the up and I just question whether black is good enough to deal with them.(Obviously ritual isn't the deck to be playing into an aggro meta but I digress).
JESUS CHRIST!! It's all blowing up. I think Zack needs to get on the phone to Burnham asap and extract some concessions in return for us bowing out of this election because at the locals Wigan went 50% Reform 10% Tory. Burnham needs every vote he can get. He says he's in favour of PR so if we could guarantee that and concessions on Gaza I think that might be alright because he seems pliable there. But I seriously think that Burnham is one of the few ways we advertise Reform at the next election even if this might lower our chances of replacing labour. PR would be a huge boon. Anyway all that depends on the local party and I'm probably slightly biased as an ex Labour member but this is so dramatic it's like House of Cards.
Such a good interview you guys should watch. I wish Clive Lewis was in the running for leadership to be honest.
