What is an underrated macro tip/idea?

Irrespective of the role or champion, what is a macro idea which is not as widely known in the league community but is insanely game changing if kept in consideration?

For me, deliberately standing in your minion wave so as to get hit by enemy's AOE abilities to trade hp for making the wave push into you was really useful. It is really useful when you want to get safe from getting ganks.

I love your champ so much

I literally first time him and I was astounded how I could face tank their bruisers and just EQEQEQEQ and stare in their face while their hp bar disappeared. Not only that, thanks to the movement speed, I was instigating a load of crap and was running out at 1 hp because I was faster than Lewis Hamilton. What a champ, truly one of a kind.

Irelia's weakness to protect her bounty

I have 1.6 mill on her. I have observed it in most games. As Irelia you can hard win lane, take every turret plate and have a cs lead of over 80. But as soon as that 700g comes on top of you, you are just a walking cashbag.

After the lane ends, Irelia's strength which is fighting around creeps is gone.

You fight for objectives and even if you manage to kill their carry, you still get spat on. You have no free dash like a Fiora or Riven such as you kill a prio target and dash away.

As Irelia once you go in, either you kill all or you die and it's not that easy to do a penta like Kat always . You have a dash but it's just a dash to enemies = giving your bounty away.

Irelia is so bad at holding that 700g on her which is often why people loose games.

How to deal with ganks against perma push matchups?

In the mid lane there are certain champs against whom you as a mage should always manage to be pushing the waves. Champs like Lux, Xerath, Velkoz and even Katarina in order to restrict her from roaming. The issue is, when you do so, it saves you from loosing hp and dying to poke from them under your turret but it makes you susceptible to ganks. How to deal with the enemy jglr in such lanes?

Confusion about wave management.

I am Plat and I play mid lane. I have watched many guides and read a lot about wave management. I know it matters even more so in the mid lane because how gank susceptible the lane is.

There are two things about waves which I have learned but they both contradict each other.

Advice 1

As a mid laner, you should try to gain a level advantage on the enemy laner. By getting the next level sooner, you can force trades which you will always win. To do that you make sure you push the wave more than the enemy. Pushing your wave also provides you prio, so you can be the first to move over to the river in order to help your jgl secure the scuttle.

Advice 2

You should manage your wave in such a way that by the time the enemy jglr gets done with his first full clear, the wave has slow pushed towards you near your turret, so you can't be ganked.

Both of these two advices contradict each other. One tells you to push the other tells you to not. So what's the answer?
