C25K and a 5k complete!
I ran a 5k today, which was my w9d3, and not only did I complete the program, I could actually run the whole 5k! I was slow, I think my time was around 46:24, but I didn’t have to walk any of it!

I did it! Not only is this the first time I’ve jogged 20 minute, this is the first time IN MY LIFE that I’ve run a mile without stopping!
I just completed w5d1, and I’m pretty sure I have the physical ability to do d3 this week. However, I know my mind is my biggest enemy, so what are your best mental tips/hacks for the first 20 min run?
I found a 5K race, partially paved, partially dirt, that lines up for what is supposed to be my last day of C25K. Is that a stupid idea, or will it probably be fine?
edit: I’m basically just asking if there is some reason not to that I don’t know, that someone who has finished the program would think of.
Like the title says lol. I thought I would be fine because I go so slow and I’m only in week three, but I was very wrong. I am sweating more at lower heat, humidity, and dewpoint than I have before, it felt like my legs were made of lead, I was breathing so much harder, and it’s just awful. Don’t do it.😅
edit: by the time I got back to my house, I was also feeling nauseous and like my vision was starting to blurr a little. Just don’t do it.
I completed my run today, but during my second three minute run, I checked my phone because I was thinking ”Man, this 3 minute run has been really long”. Friends, I had accidentally paused halfway through my three minute run. At least I’m no longer afraid of the five minute run next week lol
I recently started jogging with my dog, less than two weeks in, and he is obsessed with lunging to the side of the road to eat grass while we jog. Is this normal, or is my dog a weirdo?
Possibly a stupid question, but is it normal for day one of a week to feel harder than the last day of the previous week?
I took the phrase “knee pads” too literally. ive always centered them on my knee caps, and they’re uncomfortable. Today they shifted down while I was working, they work better and don’t pinch horribly.
Thank you to everyone who gave me advice on my other post, especially KneelBeforeC who shared this slow running video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2khySLE&pp=0gcJCWQCo7VqN5tD&ra=m
Drastically slowing down and dynamic stretching before hand were also very helpful advice, so thanks everyone!
I just tried my first day of c25K, and I could only do the warmup, cool down, 2 running sections and 2 walking sections. I know I’m out of shape/overweight, but I am absolutely dripping sweat, the outside edge of my feet are burning, my entire foot hurts, but center foot specifically. I’m wearing pretty new Brooks Addiction shoes, which were recommended years ago by a running store, and socks with support/compression arches that are my daily socks. Any advice on gait, shoes, or anything that could help?
Edit: these are all reasons I’ve given up before, and I really want to stick with it this time.
