KitchenAid KF7 Grounds Clogging

After 14 months, my KitchenAid KF7 is clogging. The grounds do not move smoothly from the grinder into the receptacle. They quickly back up in the chute, in between, and while I can make a cup of coffee, it requires some extra effort.

Since this problem started, the machine grinds, tells me the bean hopper is empty, and stops. I have to pretend to reload the hopper and push start again. Then it grinds again, and finishes a single serving of coffee that is weaker. It will function in that manner, with me pretend-refilling the hopper each time. I reduced the amount of water and get a palatable single coffee. Double coffees function this way, with two pretend refills.

I tried purging the beans immediately after the last time I cleared the clog, and the purging simply refilled the chute, so it will be clogged again, and only half the beans that were already in the grinder were ground into the chute. It was not a purge at all, in other words.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

6" cotton futon, 3" memory foam - My solution

I'm 6' 180 pounds, 60 years old. As I age I have more trouble sleeping through the night. I have been trying to find a comfortable sleep solution to minimize the nights where I can't fall back asleep after 2 am.

After trying a couple of other things, I found that a 3 inch memory foam pad is really comfortable for me, on top of a very firm surface. I recently convinced my spouse to switch to twin beds and I've now got a 6" cotton futon on a simple platform. I've been flipping the futon twice weekly to avoid a single sunken spot. And over the futon, the foam pad. Works well, avoids pressure spots, but doesn't let me sink in so deep that I overheat. The futon was $290 and the foam pad was $80, both from Amazon.

A month into this experiment I'm ready to call it a success. I have finally stopped feeling sleep deprived.
