Kia ora nzpolitics community, my post got taken down down on r/newzealand (for good reasons I agree with) so maybe this is a better fit:

Please write to National MPs expressing clearly and non-aggressively/non-emotively that you cannot support a party or a candidate who votes for this Definitions of Woman and Man Bill. This is a simple way to turn up for us and help us.

Look, if you’ve got an issue with trans people this post isn’t for you but I will say that almost certainly nothing bad has happened to you as a result of how how gender and sex are defined in New Zealand law. I’m not here to litigate the issue on reddit, I won’t be coming back and responding. If you’re trans don’t bother reading whatever happens below this. If you’re a cis ally, awesome but don’t engage the haters. Let them say what they have to say and leave them be. Focus on writing to MPs 🙏

Beyond all that regardless of our gender lots of us in the country are doing it tough right now. Trans people don’t need a kick anymore than anyone. Maybe let’s save the gender wars for better days aye?
