I have been given one step oluation sticks but I dont really rate them and am looking for some suggestions

Hello! Fairly new to ttc and just trying to work out first actual day of period because I feel like I am calculating wrong

So I have some spotting often as I am coming onto my period but don't often count that and wait for my bleeding to start properly the next day.

Should I be counting the spotting as the first day of my cycle or not?

Just trying to figure out because I'm worried I'm charting my ovulation wrong.
