Seeking Experiences: Stage IV Lung Adenocarcinoma at Age 75
My 75-year-old father was recently diagnosed with Stage IV lung adenocarcinoma (non-small cell lung cancer). The primary tumor is in his left lung, and a biopsy confirmed two metastatic lesions in his left rib. The mediastinal lymph nodes that were biopsied were negative for cancer. His oncologist is recommending 4 rounds of Carboplatin/Pemetrexed chemotherapy and 35 radiation treatments to the lung and rib with the goal of achieving remission. Molecular testing and PD-L1 results are still pending.
Has anyone had a similar diagnosis or treatment plan? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, outcomes, and any advice.
For additional context, my father is otherwise in excellent health for his age. He’s very active and has no major medical issues aside from well-controlled high blood pressure. He also underwent a triple bypass in 2021 at age 70 and made an excellent recovery.
