Anyone taking SC1004, how was your TUT?

Freshie here and can my fellow freshies who had taken SC1004 TUT for this week tell me how was the prof or tutorial went? 😭

Because my TUT experience was lowkey... BAD. For 1 hr, the prof randomly chose 4 students, asked them to solve 1 question per person (4 in total) on the whiteboard in front of everyone and that was it. No explanations, no showing of solving, no nothing, just 4 questions purely solved by students. I know they don't want to spoon feed us but felt like what's the point of coming for TUT if like this?? Pls helppp

confused abt course registrations and stuffs

Incoming freshie here who's a little bit confused abt course registrations and stuffs so it would be appreciated if any seniors could help clarifying a few questions I have !!

  1. I know that for our first sem, the Core and ICC mods are registered automatically for us but I'm quite confused after seeing the stated registration date & time on Personalised Course Registration Information page of STARS. What do I need to do?

  2. Are we allowed to take elective/BDEs or language minors starting from year 1?

  3. For future reference, may I know what are all the preparations/steps needed to do to register courses before each sem start? (cuz I've heard abt STAR WARS hahaha)

  4. Any tips on registering and managing time and classes?

Laptop Recommendations for CS Major

Hello! I'm going to be a freshman for CS and since there's no official laptop recommendations from uni like back in poly, I was wondering if any seniors have any laptop recommendations for this course. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated, thank you!

NTU Scholarship

Upcoming freshie here who applied during the early admission period and got a direct admission offer (no interview). I've stated interest for some of the signature scholarship programmes in my main application as well as submitted a separate scholarship application back then.

But a few days ago, I received a scholarship outcome email stating that I'm not selected for an NTU scholarship. So I just wanted to know if that means not selected for signature programmes only or for all the available scholarship :') I'm also not sure but saw a few older reddit posts saying that there will be like the re-interviewing section in the 2nd window as well?

Also, can I know how short-term scholarships or scholarships administered by external organizations are like if there're any seniors out here who have gotten these? Thank you!
