Lens recommendations canon r50

Hello Im brand new to using my canon r50 and new to using cameras that are not my phone.

I got it to take photos of my toddler and family on the go. I felt it was lacking with the kit lens (18-45mm) to take photos when my daughter was far away, like on a train ride. Can someone tell me, do I need different settings on my camera, or a different lens, and if so which ones? At one point I put the camera away and went back to my phone which was easier. Appreciate any help to make this camera investment worth the money, including any tutorials to help learn how to use it better.

Canon EOS R50 vs Nikon Z50 II Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm Lens,

I would like to get beautiful photos of my newborn and my toddler. Im just used to a phone camera and would like to transition to an actual camera for better quality. Looking for something easy to use without a steep learning curve that will capute beautiful photos of my children both portrait and in action. Which would you choose between Canon EOS R50 vs Nikon Z50 II Mirrorless Camera for my needs?

  • Budget: $600-$850 camera alone
  • Country: USA
  • Condition: preferably new unless used is ok
  • Type of Camera: Mirrorless
  • Intended use: Photography/ Video of children
  • If photography; what style: Portraits
  • If video what style: vlogging
  • What features do you absolutely need: (viewfinder, automatic features)
  • What features would be nice to have:
  • Portability: How portable does it need to be?(very portable
  • Cameras you're considering: See above. Cannon recommended by chatgpt. Nikon recommended by friend
  • Cameras you already have: phone. Need better quality
  • Notes: Not much. Just need to capture the kids in action. Also I want to easily be able to transfer to my laptop. Not sure how to do that anymore, most laptops dont have memory card slides. Do these have wifi?
