Hi All,
I am currently using a very old Canon 5D Mark II. I’ve had it for 15 years. I lost interest in photography and put it away for 10 years but I’ve recently had a baby and found myself picking it up every day to take photos of her. I find that it is quite clunky and slow and I’m struggling with focus on a moving subject.
I am so out of touch with what is on the market as I haven’t been keeping up with new products.
Please could you share recommendations of affordable Canon cameras with the eye auto focus tracking feature, not sure if there is a more technical name? I’m really struggling to focus each time I want to take a photo as the baby has moved so fast. I need the camera to do some of the work for me. I currently use back button focus.
I’m not interested in any other features being the best. It is purely for family photos. Being affordable is more important!
Thank you!!
Hey people, i dropped my Sony PowerShot SD1400 IS a while ago and this issue keeps happening. It opens and looks like it retracts and everything fine, but it keeps going back to the base and clicking rapidly. Throws an error as well. I'm not sure what to do, should I just take it to a repairman?
Hello all, I am a photographer who graduated from college a year ago. I have had a Canon SL2 for the last 7 years, and I mainly specialize in sports photography and Videography. I am long overdue for an upgrade... I do not have much money I sold some of my investments to invest in a new camera for my career. I want a Canon R7... Without the kit lens before tax(NY) it is $1549 USD with the 18-150mm kit lens it is $2050.. My plan is to get a used ef 70-200 2.8 and then get an adaptor. The kit lens would help me at my current job (photographing cars for a dealership) but is it worth the $500? Could I get away with buying just the body and getting lenses on Facebook marketplace or used online for cheaper like an ef lense like that and use an adaptor? Or should I just bite the bullet and get the kit lense?
It was in a YouTube video and they never mentioned the name, this was the only screenshot that showed the whole camera. But the pictures taken were amazing.
edit: thank you all for the help!!!
hello, i start using a Nikon D3000 It was a great camera but the autofocus system start failing and hot pixel, its great but hard, im planing to buy this Canon 200D Mark II for 714$ should i buy it or keep my nikon D3000? I usally take photo of outdoor and cars same with natures.
I’m thinking about upgrading to the R7, but I’m not sure if it’s truly the perfect choice, so I wanted to ask for some tips and advice. I do plane spotting (currently using the Sigma 50-500), so the APS-C sensor would definitely come in handy, and I could use the EOS RP as a backup camera. In any case, I want to stick with Canon, and my new camera needs to offer at least 10 fps and over 30 MP.
Started with a Canon R10 five months ago and kept adding gear as I figured out what I enjoy shooting. I recently picked up an R5 as well. No regrets so far.
Included a few of my favorite photos.
hey sub . i wish u are good but me I'm worried cause I started noticing a black spot in some photos, but only when there's a strong light source. It never happened before. Even after I took the lens off, everything was fine. The only thing I did was lightly blow on the sensor because I didn't know I wasn't supposed to do that. Since then, I've been noticing the spot sometimes. There are no error messages, so I'm thinking it might just be dust or something on the sensor, not a shutter problem.
Hi everyone,
I’ve been having an issue with my Canon R10 when recording video. Even when I’m trying to keep the camera as steady as possible, the footage has a weird “wobbly” or “jelly-like” effect. It almost looks like the image is bending or warping even if i dont move the camera at all or if it’s on a steady tripod.
Has anyone else experienced this?
So few years ago I had my trusty Canon 1DX and life changed and put it in storage. Looking at starting back. What current options do I have? Is there adapters for all the lenses I have?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been shooting wildlife for a while now with a Canon 6D (Mark I) paired with a 200mm prime lens. While this setup has beautiful full-frame rendering and excellent low-light performance for those early morning/late evening golden hour moments, I am starting to hit a wall with fast-moving subjects.
To give some context on what I'm struggling with, the 6D definitely shows its age when it comes to action:
The Autofocus System: With only 11 AF points (and realistically only the center cross-type point being reliable), tracking birds in flight or unpredictable moving animals feels like a game of pure luck. AI Servo just can't keep up with modern standards.
Burst Rate: The 4.5 frames per second max continuous shooting speed means I miss the exact micro-moments of action (wing positions, head turns, etc.).
The Reach: Being full-frame, 200mm doesn't offer quite enough reach for smaller birds or distant wildlife, forcing me to rely on heavy cropping that eats into my 20-megapixel resolution.
I want to step up my game, but I'm on the fence about the smartest path forward. Should I upgrade my glass first to get more reach, or drop the DSLR body for a modern mirrorless system with animal eye-tracking and faster burst rates?
If you were in my shoes, in what order would you upgrade, and what specific gear would you look at next? (Staying within the Canon ecosystem—either EF or RF—is preferred since I have a few other lenses, but I'm open to all advice!)
I have some photos I’ve recently taken with this setup.
Thank you!
This happens whenever the subject is close to the camera, in all modes, but I mostly use automatic. The camera’s corners turn orange-red. Adjusting the flash doesn’t help. Attached below is a video. Any help is appreciated.
I’m thinking of adapting from my mirrorless r50 to ef lens mainly because of the price. The problem is that the canon adaptor is around $150 which puts me down a few bucks. Will third party adaptors work as a replacement instead? Has anybody had any experience good or bad with them?
My canon powershot elph180 was submerged in a pool for a few seconds today. I immediately took out the battery and SD card and then dried out the interior and exterior. it won’t turn on. i currently have it upside down and drying out. i’m really scared, i’ve had this camera for YEARS. what do i do? is it completely fucked. the SD card is fine and so is the battery as far as i know. please help please.
Hey guys, so I have the Canon R50V along with the RF-S 14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ (kit lens). The kit lens is pretty good so far, but I’d like to know if there are any better lenses out there that you guys might have in mind? I don’t really want to worry about cost yet.
PS: kinda sucks that RF mount lenses are quite limited compared to other mounts. But hey, it is expanding slowly.
I’m a lifetime photographer usually using phone/polaroid and completely out of hobby. Mainly landscape/nature/wildlife is what I’d like to use the camera for but decent portrait photos of my direct family is a small plus (I think a lot of my failures in that regard are skill based + lack of tripod more than camera because im not used to trying for a quality photo and just capture what I can on my phone)
The only camera I’ve ever had besides a phone/polaroid is a canon sx420is I bought years ago which I’ve been using more and more for my landscape stuff now that I’ve put time into figuring out the very little manual setting it does have. I’m really enjoying it but the more I read it seems like a lot of areas I’m struggling with certain shots would be resolved with some more manual availability.
Looking for camera recs that may be an upgrade to this but still aren’t breaking the bank. I don’t need a $1000 camera right now and I understand I’ll get better quality with higher price but because this is hobby based I don’t need the best of the best. Just looking for an upgrade to what I’ve got maybe more suited to what I am using it for?
Side note - if this camera should work fine for what I’m photographing and I’m just not doing it right - please let me know I’d be happy to hear it haha!
