Trying to sell a car but confused about the title
Hi guys, please bear with me here as I am trying to understand all of this, but google has me more confused.
I bought a car in California in 2019 and financed it. I moved to Arizona and registered the car in Arizona in 2022. I paid off the loan in full in 2023. The car's engine broke a few months later and it's been sitting in my garage ever since. It is a pretty nice car that is in good condition minus the engine, so I am trying to sell it and have many buyers interested who are all asking if it has a clean title. I have kept all my car documents in one place, and the only title I can find in my files is a California title. The registration date on it is listed as expiring in 2021 (because after that is when I began registering it in Arizona). The issue date of the title is in 2023 a few days after I paid off the car, so I am assuming this was sent to me then.
I guess my question is in order to sell the car, do I need an Arizona title? It doesn't look like I can get one since the car hasn't been registered (or driven) since 2023 since the engine is completely broken. Does this count as a clean title? And will I be able to sell the car with this title?
Thanks in advance!
