3rd party warranty claims
I bought a 3rd party warranty when in purchased my truck. It still had some ford powertrain warranty at time of purchase as well so I was “double covered”. The 10r80 had some issues and was replaced by ford with a reman unit and all has been ok since then. I recently received the recall notice related to a possible missing bearing on these reman units necessitating it be inspected and possibly replaced by ford for free. The engine has been giving me some problems that I want checked out(5.0 idling like a diesel and occasional knock). After my powertrain warranty right now, I switched to 5W-30 engine oil. I’m wondering if anyone knows that if I take the truck in to have the motor inspected, that they would find out I am using auto spec engine oil and deny any type of potential coverage to the motor by the third-party company.?
