2025 Broken Windshield

Good morning experts!

Just off phone with Ford Dealership and service advisor.

Said most dealers do not service windshield replacement.

I can bring truck in and they will schedule w third party. I can specify Ford Glass. Repair done at dealer.

Perhaps go direct w Safelite?

What say you? Go this route or find a dealer that does glass?
option?

Thank-you!!

Key Fob randomly stopped working

So I was at costco yesterday with my '24 STX, and my key fob randomly wasn't unlocking the truck. I was pressing away on the unlock with a cart full of groceries and nothing happened. Pressed the lock button twice to try and get the honk - nothing. Thankfully I had to Ford app set up so I could unlock the truck that way. The fob has worked normally since.

Since the fob had been showing no signs of being low on battery, did a google search, as one does. It said if you do a short drive, the truck battery doesn't get enough time to charge and the truck may go into a sleep mode and the fob won't work. Is this accurate? I did start the truck a few times in the morning because I needed to move it, but it seems absolutely absurd to have a battery saving feature that would make it so you can't enter the vehicle.

Anywho, is any of this normal? Should I just replace the fob battery? Thanks

2018 owner test drove a 2022

Test drove a 2022 (blend date of Oct 2022) and holy cow what a much better driving experience it was compared to my clunky transmission. I was actually blown away by how much more refined it felt moving through the gears.

2020 F150 Lariat 5.0 , 56k miles , Trans Kaput

I noticed it started skipping gears . 1st to 3rd to fifth and it would hang in 7th when getting on the highway .

A couple weeks ago I was on the highway doen around 75 and it started shifting up and down10th to 7th then 9th then down to 4th.

I was making my way to the side of the highway and it started shifting out well but not into 10th. I went a few miles ,pulled over, shut it down ,restarted and it shifted out perfectly.

It did it again last week.

I took it to the dealer a couple days ago and they confirmed it was shot..

Luckily , I bought the premium extended warrenty ( the one my wife yelled at me for buying)

The adjuster is going to look at it today or tomorrow to determine if they are going to rebuild or install new.

Why do we buy upgraded trim levels with carpet just to cover the carpet with expensive mats?

I get it is to protect the carpet. But we cover it for the life of the truck so we actually NEVER actually enjoy the carpet. What are we doing?

Asking as someone who recently bought a nice truck. And then had this thought today as I covered up the carpet with the expensive floor mats I bought .

Weathertech and Husky mats to completely "laser fit" cover the carpet we paid extra to get

Proud to finally join the club!

I've been looking for quite a while and finally found my baby...

Picked up this 2020 F150 Supercrew 3.5 eco 4X4 6.5ft box just a couple hours ago. She's got 206000km on her (about 126000 mi). Has had all the fluids changed, new spark plugs, new rear brakes, and has been undercoated a couple times (salt and brine is plentiful up here in Canada).

More importantly, 6000km ago the truck had a full 10R80 rebuild, including upgrades clutch drums, full freshened valve body, and even a new torque converter. The seller showed me a receipt for $7960!!. Glad that is out of the way!

No cam phaser rattle at all on cold starts. I am fully anticipating they will need done at somepoint. When that happens, I'll change all the chains and guides and anything else I can while I am in there.

The cap is from the sellers old 2017 F150, so it doesn't fit perfect - I will try and make it a little better. To be honest, I am starting to dig the cap look.

Picked it up for $18000 CAD + tax (all in $20500 CAD..about $14900 in freedom dollars).

Cheers and look forward to joining in the fun!

First F150

Purchased my first F150 and am loving it. It’s a 2023 2.7 ecoboost with 40k miles on it. Got the 2.7 for two reasons. 1) I don’t tow or haul shit 2) I read the 2.7 was the most reliable per consumer reports.

Just wanted to come in here to share the excitement of owning the truck and to see if there are any common purchases that are practical for the truck.

Engine longevity

Recently got this 2013 3.5l eco boost with 147k miles. It’s a blast to drive and I want to keep it running as long as possible.

I saw some advice saying to hold down the gas pedal for a couple seconds while cranking the engine to pump oil to the turbos before letting it fire up. My question is: is this bad for the starter and or/battery and would it just be better to start it right up?

What other advice do you guys have for keeping it running as long as possible?

Slipping into 5th gear when stopped on an incline

My 2016 has recently started slipping into 5th gear when I go to accelerate from a stop on an incline. I’m stopped, go to accelerate, and it’s in 5th gear! It downshifts to 1 when I initially come to a stop. Anyone ever heard of this? Any idea why?

Powerboost MPG?

Please excuse the dust, pollen season is in full swing and I can feel my eyes watering typing this. I’m Averaging 22+ on this tank with warmer temperatures finally here in Maine. about 60-70% highway driving. D range tires but factory size, 36psi cold. Simply out of curiosity What’re you guys getting for mileage? I usually have about 1000-1500lbs of payload in the truck at all times.

2026 F150 Supercrew 4x4 5.0L V8 vs 2021 Tundra Trd Off Road?

These choices come to about the same price (which is wild) when I compare Tundras with 50k and fewer miles. Which is the better buy for less long term headaches? Primarily want a V8, 4x4 capability, large cabin and higher ride height, and reliability.

Coyote seems pretty solid engine wise, haven't read of issues with the wet belt. I guess IWEs on the Ford could be an issue vs potential cam tower leak on the Tundra?

Transmission fluid question

I’ve got a 2016 F150 with the 3.5 Eco-Boost and it has 215,000 miles. Having some torque converter shudder and wondering if I should get the fluid changed (I’m not gonna flush cause I know that’s not a good thing for this mileage) vs just put some Lubeguard in it and let it go

Wolfbox Electric Running Boards

Hello all!

I was one of the winners of the giveaway for the Wolfbox electric running boards, and I wanted to share some thoughts on them.

These are a pretty killer upgrade for trucks that came with fixed running boards. This is my first time installing electric steps on any truck, and it took a little less than 2 hours (including tidying up power wires/adjustments/etc.)

In my opinion these are a much better solution than the Rough Country steps. Those initially put me off upgrading due to the door magnets they use as a trigger. These Wolfbox steps are triggered by tapping 2 wires near your OBD2 port. And they have a 3 second delay so that if you open the back door to grab something, close it, then open the front door, they stay deployed. It's a nice touch.

Installation was pretty easy following the instruction manual. None of it is really difficult, it just takes a little time to tidy up the wires near your frame, and to adjust the boards to get them situated how you want.

They sit very flush up against the body, and they drop down a lot further than factory fixed boards. I'll have to get used to it lol.

I also like the included plastic spacers that keep the mounting hardware off of the aluminum body. Again, it's a nice touch.

I'll update this post if anyone has any questions about them. Thanks!

AC kicks butt

I bought my F150 in October, so with some recent hot weather have only just started using the AC. Is it just me or does this thing have some seriously good AC? Don't know if it's a new vehicle thing, truck thing, or F150 specific, but I had to adjust the vents and turn up the temp setting today because I was literally getting a headache from such cold air blowing on my forehead.
