Is there any way to recoup lost wages and expenses from this individual? I lived in Utah for a few years where I worked as an armed security officer. On shift one morning, i had to trespass and individual and ensure he left property. This individual then got in his vehicle and looked back at me and said he was going to “f*** me up” then threw his vehicle in reverse trying to hit me. Cops were called and he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. This happened 2 yrs ago but dude attacked his attorneys and it’s now going to trial. I have since moved out of state. They subpoenaed me and are flying me out and getting me a hotel room. I asked the prosecuting attorney about possible restitution for missing work and the money I will have to spend to be out there, as well as money I’ll now need to pay to board my dogs. He said he don’t this restitution is possible and the lost wages aren’t because the crime, but because of the court case. But the court case is because of the crime.. all in all I’ll be out probably around 2000$ Between lost wages for the 2-3 days, boarding dogs, food, and hygiene products for the few days. Any thoughts?
