Is this pluggable

Discount opens at 8 . Just trying to get the general consensus so I can be prepared. Also if the car is awd and there is already 20-25 of 40/45k tire life gone what's any suggestions to keep using the other tires until they aren't safe ? Buy a whole new set and just replace this one now so that when I decide to have them replace the set 4 are paid for?

This needs to be replaced right?

I’m not a car guy, and hoping to not be made fun of. I’m planning to take it into a tire shop tomorrow, but figured I’d also ask Reddit. These are my summers, they came with the car (Honda HRV) when I bought it in late 2020. Car had 36k miles, now at 96k miles. I’d guess I’ve done around 50k miles on this set (I have new winters). They’re Altimax generals.

UPDATE: thank you all for the advice and comments, I actually took an early lunch and went down to Costco. New set; Michelin defender 2’s (on sale) are ordered. Hopefully we’ll get them installed in the next day or two. Really appreciate it!

Tubeless Tire Leaks?

I drive an 11them gen civic which has tubeless tires. I don't have rims for the winter tires so I have them changed on/off the rim itself. Some seasons after doing this I have a tire or two that requires new air every week or so. For a long time I thought I had a really small leak but a friend informed me it's likely a leak in the bead.

Do I have to make an appointment to have them redo the process or are there any tricks I can use to try and get it sealed myself? The dealership has always been the one doing the swap (and leaving my rims covered in lube after the process).

Also should the dealership not be aware there was an issue with the bead seating before handing it back to me? This has been like three non-consecutive seasons with this issue

Are these winter tires okay for another season?

Don’t really drive much but purchased roughly 8 years ago. All four look like this. Don’t know much about tires. Just a bit worried as they are a bit old now. Thanks

Rubbing on rear tires

18x8.5 +33 , 245/45R18

Rubbing on rear tires as seen by the white line on the tires.

Would going down to a 245/40 fix this? What about fender rolling / pulling?

keen on keeping with width for the track.

What’s wrong with my tire?

Got my brakes and rotors replaced at a shop, and my car had been shaking after. Turns out, one of the new workers didn’t torque it properly when putting the toes back on, so they fixed it. However, it’s been shaking a lot again shortly after, and today I see my tire like this. What is this, and can it be fixed? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I’m not as educated as I should be on this stuff. Thanks!

What the heck happened to my 2.5 year old tires?

My rear two tires have abnormal wear on the outer tread. I sometimes share this car with my parents. They said they did not run over anything or get any curb rash. I drove this after a month and noticed these cuts. The tread is about 6/32nds. Is this dangerous to drive on? It’s only the rear two tires. Front two are fine.

What's with the Longitudinal Grooves on highways?

Should I get different tires?

I just had a set of Continental TrueContact Tour 54's put on my '05bGolf and wow does it grab those groves and toss me around.

I've had cars do this before, but this is substantial. I've had 2 other models of tires on this car and didn't have this problem, so it's not the suspension.

The shop I bought them from has a 30 day policy, should I exchange? I travel 700mi a week (300 - 1 way and 100 in the town I stay at during the week). Of that 300mi stretch of highway/interstate probably 200 has those groves.

Driving on it feels like I'm tailgating a semi truck with turbulence, the entire time with those concrete groves. I feel tire manufacturers should test their tires on that.

Which tires do this and which ones don't?

https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Tire-tread-groove-patterns-analyzed-a-longitudinal-groove-pattern-tire-b-transverse_fig1_245563295

-edited to get replies on the actual question of should i get different tires, i just hate that tire manufacturers don't pay attention to traction and such when highways have these groves everywhere.

-edit 2, added related article

Rim damage

I took my car to a shop to get new tires and this is what I got back. My rims were not scratched when I gave the car to them and they are denying that they caused damage. Mind you I washed my car 3 days before I took my car in so I would've seen the damage and I have pictures of my car when I washed it and theres no damage. Does this look like damage that they could have caused?

I’m seeing felt lines in the inside of the tire where it wears the most.

I understand the tire has been compromised due improper balance. I’m seeing felt looking chords. Are these the same as the steel cords on most tires? Do the cords come before the steel cords or does it just depend on the manufacturer? This is a Michelin pilot sport 2. Also, do you think I can make it another few days so I can replace my tire? Mostly city driving under 40mph.

The Biggest Tire Manufacturers: Who Makes What?

Here it is: an updated visual, more exhaustive, of the largest tire manufacturing companies with their brands: Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Pirelli, Sumimoto, Yokohama, Hankook, ZC Rubber, CST (formerly known as Cheng Shin Rubber), Toyo, Apollo, Sailun, Kumho, MRF, Linglong and Giti. Only self-standing brands are represented here, not product lines.

How were those 17 companies determined? Well, it’s a combination of global revenues and marketshare. Those are the top 17 if you follow those metrics at the moment. Next year, it could look different. Other metrics could have been picked, like market capitalization or production volume, which would look different and lean even more heavily Asian.

Some of you will point out that their favorite tire makers are missing. No, the winter king, Nokian, isn’t here. Again, this is not meant to be exhaustive. Maybe I’ll create a third panel at some point that includes it and the rest of the top 25 at the moment.

There are dozens (hundreds, really) of companies making and distributing tire brands you’ve come across. And most of them you probably never heard of unless you work in the industry. Some of those lesser known tire makers often are the ones also making those private label value or budget tires sold at big tire retailers, although big players like Goodyear also make some of them. And some companies like TBC Brands do not manufacture, but market and distribute tires from various manufacturers such as Sumimoto, sometimes switching manufacturers for the same brand.

And then things get even more complicated. Toyo and Bridgestone own some of each other’s shares. The Chinese Sinochem Group owns a third of Pirelli. Sumimoto owns a small stake in Nokian. Goodyear OTR is not owned by Goodyear anymore, but by Yokohama. Rival manufacturers have joint ventures distributing their tires in given territories. Yes, it’s confusing. But hey, that level of complexity is common in most industries these days.

How do I break the beads on these

Two part rim with worn out tire walls. Haven't started on the really bad one yet.

Update: we gave up on these things and swapped out the axles on the trailer to use different wheels.
