Can anyone hazard a guess what happened to my truck?

It's a 2020 Sierra Denali, I wash it every other week as needed. I've had it 4 months, it has no previous damage to the area. I washed it Friday, didn't drive it Saturday and went to climb in this morning and found this. It was 30C/80F yesterday and parked next to my plastic garbage bins but there was nothing reflecting onto it but I always park there and have never had an issue.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Is this rust around the rear leaf spring mount fixable? 1972 Ford Maverick

I was passed down a 1972 Ford Maverick and found this rusted-out spot in the passenger rear trunk corner.

From underneath, the rail that runs below it seems solid when I poke at it with a screwdriver. But the metal around this mount/bracket is clearly rotted out.

Is this something that can be repaired, or is it a sign the car isn’t worth messing with? Is there a replacement part for this area, or would a shop have to make the metal from scratch?

I’m pretty new to old-car rust, so any advice on what the next best step should be and what else I should check would be appreciated.

First car advice needed – BMW 320 or something more reliable?

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask for your opinion about buying my first car. How do you actually choose one?
Unfortunately, my dad doesn’t really know much about cars, and I live separately from him. I got my driver’s license about two months ago.
Ever since I was a kid, my dream has been to drive a nice BMW, just like a lot of other guys. I’m 20 years old, living in Germany, and I earn around €2,200 net per month.
The problem is that everyone around me keeps telling me that cars are expensive, that I should save my money instead, that I don’t really need one, and so on. At this point, I have so many mixed thoughts that I don’t know what to do.
I’ve been looking at BMW 320 models for around €7,000–8,000. I think they look great, but a lot of people say they’re unreliable and that I’ll end up spending a lot of money on repairs. On the other hand, some people tell me it’s definitely possible to find one that’s in good technical condition and still looks great.
I’ve loved cars since I was a kid, and my dad taught me how to drive when I was 15. But I’m honestly nervous about making such a big purchase. I’ve never spent several thousand euros on anything before.
Could you recommend some car models that would be worth considering? I’m open to BMW, but I’d also like to hear about other reliable options.
I’d also appreciate any advice on how to inspect a used car before buying it. Is it worth hiring a mechanic to come with me and check the car, or is there another approach you’d recommend?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Random paint discoloration?

I noticed this a few months ago on my 2020 civic. I’ve had the car for 5 years. Wondering what could’ve caused it and if it is anything to worry about. I don’t really care about aesthetics but I want to avoid rust or any other issues. Any thoughts appreciated!

Can this be fixed?

Hey,
I am wondering if this can be fixed. Plastic front bumper of older Lexus lx570. It’s barely dented, more like a crease. Not sure if it is somehow possible to get the crease out? I think scratch remover can probably take care of some scuffs but I am more concerned about the crease.

Thanks!

Car was backed into by four wheeler. Worth repairing?

My 2020 Mazda CX-5 was backed into by a four wheeler last night. This is the driver side rear door. I don’t care about cosmetics, just want to know if it needs to be fixed for mechanical/operations issues. I’ve read some dents can cause rust if it’s not fixed.

Rear quarter panel damage repair failure. Looking for advice

So I dented the back end of my vehicle about 2-3 years ago. I took it to a body shop and they repaired the damage around the same time. I guess they cut and glued/welded the panel to flatten the dent. Now this area where the repair was has failed / reopened.

Should I try to have this fixed (again) or would you simply replace the whole panel?

Looking for advice/ solution

So a. Neighbor had backed into my car when reversing out of their driveway I’m just curious what the best solution is for this, if I have to get a new door if I’d be able to get the dent out myself I just am looking for some advice I’m young and trying not to let this bother me the. Neighbor is going to give me 600 towards the repair, not sure what to do I don’t care much for a show room finish I’d just like it to look somewhat back to normal looking clean again

My boyfriend drove my car into a pole, on my birthday

I’m wondering if it’s worth going through my insurance or pay out of pocket. I can’t open my driver door without the door making a scary popping noise. I’m a 28 year old woman and afraid to consult my father so any fatherly advice would be super appreciated. Should I have him file the claim using his insurance?

Is this a standard way to fix this?

My body shop guy said he would make the tailgate look “so good you won’t be able to tell” but I went to the shop to see the truck and it looks so weird, I told him to find a replacement if it needs too much work but he told me I wasn’t trusting the process and that he’s not done

Please help - dealership sent my cpo S60 for paintjob under warranty to this tent on gravel. What would you do? What shohld I do?

Long story short: I bought a Volvo CPO from a dealer. There was a paint defect on the trunk that should've been caught before sale (they admitted it). After months of waiting, they finally sent it out for the warranty paint job — and I tracked the car (via the Volvo app) to a random used-car lot in the middle of nowhere.

This is where I found my car being painted: an open-air tent, on a dirt-and-gravel floor, no enclosed booth. The technician told me himself, "in these conditions, it's never 100%." Meanwhile there's a Volvo Certified Collision Center literally minutes from the dealership.

I've already told the service dept to stop work and I'm sending a formal complaint to management. But before I do — what would you do in my shoes? Anything I'm not thinking of? Realistic outcomes I should push for? Appreciate any advice.

Best method of symmetry

Hi all what’s the best method for symmetry but more importantly getting the same slope off this bezel at the back of my pedal car. I use the midline tape trick, then I was going to sand to the same level each side.

But what I’m most concerned about is having the same slope either side of that centre piece. Should I just roll some sandpaper round a marker or wooden dowel for example?

These things are stamped out and are not symmetrical by any means so it’s just being as ocd as I can before primer and blocking.

Can this be minimally repaired just enough to drive.

Car runs perfect but was rear ended. Actual repairs would cost more than the worth of the car. Insurance will total this car out for like $500. Wanting to see if I can just get the trunk closed so it can be driven

New paint doesn’t match

So I sprayed my new box, got the exact colour match from a paint shop.

I just wanted to ask if polishing or buffing the rest of the truck could bring it back to its original colour?

The bed matches the inside of the door jams too a tee.

Are headlight kits worth it?

I have used maguaris aluminum polish and it works wonders... however I think it can be better- I mean it is a metal polish lol. It does work nice though I just never added sanding into the mix.

But I never used a clear coat, so of course they faded. I want my headlights to stay clear.

I have a 25 year old car, and all sorts of sandpaper. I have rubbing alcohol micro fiber cloth, masking tape, trash bags, and lots of elbow grease time. I also have a turtle beach wax, and I am planning on buying gloss clear uv resistant anti yellow clear coat.

I want to spend maybe $30 tops for about a year of protection on an older car that isn't worth much but I will be driving.

Should I use this process or just get a cerakote headlight restoration kit for $17? They use some sort of chemicals so I am wondering if I will be missing out if I don't use them.

Or should I just use soapy water, alc, wet sanding, clear coat, turtle wax? Always look to get things right on a budget!

Thanks everyone! Does not need to be perfect, but I want to get it as good as possible around that budget. I still have a lot of work to do cosmetically on the car and every dollar I save I will put into other supplies for other areas.

Is it worth buying a car that was in a rear-end accident?

I’m looking at buying a 2024 Toyota 4Runner with 28K miles. It had one owner and it was in an accident back in September 2024. It was a rear-end collision with another vehicle. According to Carfax, the accident damage was in the “moderate” range. Other than the accident, which was repaired, the car is in amazing shape, and drives great. How likely is it that this car has frame damage? Would it be too risky to get this car? I really like the car, and was thinking about negotiating the price down using the accident as leverage, as well as getting them to agree to let me take it for a day and have it inspected by professionals. I don’t have access to any pictures of the accident damage.
