Can a bodywork repair fail?
I recently had a large dent in the rear quarter panel of my vehicle repaired (I’m not sure whether this was repaired or replaced). All appeared fine until I was travelling on the motorway (highway) and noticed an incredibly loud knocking sound throughout the vehicle. I stopped and checked the wheels and underside of the car and noticed nothing.
A few days later I noticed the exact same spot that was repaired had damage that is essentially like for like, except this time there is a large amount of cracking.
Is it possible that, if the panel was repaired rather than replaced, the structural integrity has failed and caused the panel to pop back in again and crack?
Photo 1 is the original damage. Photo 2 is now. The damage is identical down to the scratch pattern on the paint in the bumper.
Am I being too hopeful that I haven’t just had the vehicle hit again in exactly the same spot?
