2026 AT4x 3.0 questions

Just joined the Sierra family, but left with a few questions.

  1. I went with the 3.0 primarily because the comments in here claiming I’d get 25MPG, even online at GMC says the same thing. But when I purchased my vehicle I noticed on the dealers website said 16/19. I assumed typo on dealers side, but when I got the vehicle the the window sticker even said that, are there some 3.0’s that don’t get the 25MPG+???

  2. Accessories, I want to get a step bar that folds out when you open the door. Any recommendations on what brand I should get? Bed cover is the other thing i want to add, any recommendation’s on brand hard covers?

  3. Is there any accessories that are must adds?

Appreciate any advice!

Dealership Woes

I had to take my truck in to my local dealership for a warranty issue. Walked in and there is a customer reaming out a tech/customer rep about an extra $20 on an oil change that he wasn’t expecting since it was cheaper last time. Like loudly, and I thought it would come to blows. I was quietly whisked away before the conclusion, but wow! Say what you will about dealers, but does the guy not know that everything, especially oil and gas are more expensive due to the Middle East conflict? My word, everything is $20+ more expensive these days. Doesn’t matter where you take it, or if you do it yourself.

Also, unless you have free oil changes or it’s under warranty, don’t take it to the dealer. Still more expensive, but at least maybe cheaper elsewhere.

What is this?

Is this built up gunk from the car wash or is this supposed to be like that? Thank you in advance.

Transmission issue

GMC Sierra 2024, 23000 miles.

My car shakes when it revs from 1000-2000 RPM at low speed. Took it to the dealer, they replaced valve body. Took a week to source and fix, didn't work.

they replaced torque converter, that was another week.

Now I just got a call that none of the repairs fixed the underlying.

what is going on? Does anyone have any experience with this? Do I get a new transmission? Or a new truck!?

2018 GMC Sierra Denali 5.3

Need some help looking into the transmission and lifters. Buying it from a friend. It’s got 20k miles on it. Curious if it’s worth it with the 8 speed transmission. Anyone’s information is helpful and if it’s worth the purchase. I love this body style and the truck in general. Please let me know all good and bad experiences.

6.2 Recall

I picked up a ‘22 6.2 Denali 1500 last month with 25k miles and absolutely love it so far. No issues whatsoever (knock on wood). I use it every day for work towing and hauling, and I’m especially busy with it right now.

It hasn’t gone in for the 6.2 recall yet, and honestly I’m a little apprehensive about bringing it to the dealer after reading all the horror stories about people getting strung along, trucks sitting for weeks, no loaners, etc.

My question is: if my motor is running perfectly fine, should I just start running 0W-40 myself and keep going about my business? Or is it worth dealing with the hassle and having the dealer inspect it so everything is documented and backed by GM if something ever does happen?

Would appreciate any input!

Lit emblem installed in the 2500

Had $500 worth of points to spend after buying the Rocker sub and trailer camera.

Installed in around 45 minutes. I dig it.

Considering replacing my AT4 with an F150

Had a '16 Sierra Denali 1500 w/6.2L. Replaced with '21 Sierra AT4 1500 w/6.2L. Have 70k miles on my '21. Passed Pico test! No mechanical issues thus far. Ready for change.

Like the idea of the Ford Powerboost engine and the 'employee pricing for everyone'. Lots of HP/Torque, better mileage (20+), better range (30 gallon tank). Drove a Lariat and a Platinum. The ride is very crude! Felt vibration through the seats. Bumps in the road cause bouncing. It is a good ab workout holding your torso in place. WTH? I actually got out of a Ford and immediately drove my AT4 the same test-drive route to see if I was imaging things. Nope. My '21 AT4 is so much more civilized. Was not impressed with Ford steering feedback, you can see daylight through the tailgate gaps, most F150's don't have rear wheel well liners, and the rake back to front to mention a few details.

I know there is a ton of brand bias and at least on a GMC page can't be the only one.

GM Platnium extended warranty and tire size

I know this has likely been beaten down and discussed, but here we are.

First, yes I know about the MMWA, but this gets deeper..

I have a sierra at4 1500, 3.0 and I am purchasing a gm extended warranty (service plan) for it.

I plan on doing Bilstien 6112 at 1.2in and 275/65r20 and new UCAs.

In reading a gm warranty contract, I read the “Lift Kit/Tire Modification Allowance” section and have included a picture of this section.

My understanding is “up to 35in and 4in of lift” UNLESS otherwise equipped directly from manufacturer. The Unless part in plain reading applies to Rocky Ridge, Black Widow, etc trucks. The up to 35in and 4in of lift would apply to me.

Great. Well….

Below that it states that “odometer must be calibrated to reflect true mileage”. That sounds easy until you realize, based on my research, that no dealer will/can update the tire size in the computer. Plus, dealers will deny warranty if you plug in something like HP tuners or rough country to change it due to interfering with computer.

This seems like a warranty provision that can be easily declined by a dealer.

Has anyone gone this route and had issues having warranty cover anything? Has anyone had the dealership calibrate their truck to a different size (non-factory)? Any anonymous service advisors/adjusters have to deal with this?

I don’t want to go through all of this and pay the money for this warranty for them to tell me “oh warranty declined on engine/transmission because big tires bad.”

A HAPPY DAY - Now Just a Sad Story

I bought my First BRAND NEW Truck! Elevation 5.3L

I've always bought older vehicles to save money with 6 kids. Finally got something nice for myself.

Happiness started to wear off Quickly

First Week an issue with the Radio lost one day to diagnose. Lost another day for them to replace the display.

6th Weeks started running rough for a couple blocks then DEAD needing a tow to nearest Dealership. It has been at the Dealer for over 2 WEEKS NOW!!! They tell me Cam Sensor / Cam Gear / Cam Chain etc ...

GM Canada Customer Service - TERRIBLE at returning calls or Emails !!! I've left emails and phone calls. NO return calls in a WEEK !!! When I called a week later after I left several messages I go the same person on the phone.... Oh well someone else is now looking after it. - Still no Phone Calls or Email not sure I call that Taking care of it. - We can't do anything until the Dealer fixes the truck and let's us know what the full repair is.

Purchased at 69KM(42Miles) - Died at 3,974KM (2,469) !!!!

Any Advice from People who Love their trucks?

Done with my Sierra

The quality of my 2022 Sierra is dog water. I would imagine they used to be reliable trucks but mine has around 20k miles and has already been in the shop twice, each for a week for some issue. The fuel pump failed one time and now my transmission is taking a turn. Maybe mine is just a one-off situation but it wouldn’t help that GMC is scamming me and didn’t even fix the second issue after they had it. They just scammed me with diagnostic fees.

I feel like a weight has been lifted off my chest after deciding to sell my Sierra.

Downpour Metallic

Just got this a couple days ago. Downpour Metallic might be my favorite truck color I’ve ever seen. Trying to decide if I should switch out for the black GMC badges and which running boards to go with. Considering the rough country HD2’s since they’re aluminum and I’m in Ohio.

What do you guys have for running boards?

Is it possible to get GM to actually fix my Sierra's 10-speed transmission?

2024 GMC Sierra SLT 5.3L with 10-speed transmission with shifting issues.

(TLDR: Occasional shifting issues. GM updated software, then replaced control module. Still not fixed. What do I do?)

First time I took it in they did a software update, which did jack to help with shifting problems and got a "service transmission now. unable to shift soon" message a few days after picking it up.

Second time they replaced a control module. Still does the same things. If it doesn't give me transmission service messages soon, I guess it will after I put some more miles on it or the warranty is expired.

Is it possible to get them to actually fix it or what? Do I have to take it there every week until they run out of little fixes? First new truck I've ever owned and it really sucks having to deal with this.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Fuse box

Could the fuse box be the cause of my problems with my 2010 Sierra? I was on here a while ago asking about possible causes for erratic and dead gauges as well as malfunctioning locks and unrelated codes.
