There’s just something about the RAM 1500. The look, the feel, the way it turns every drive into a vibe. This truck is chef’s kiss.

Side step install please help

I’ve been at this forever. It’s the bracket to install a Barricade Pioneer side step. Has anyone figured this out? It just gets stuck. Doesn’t matter how gentle or forceful I try and get it.

Lease prices

Hi all!

Owned a 22 ram Laramie about 3-4 years ago and loved that thing had to get rid of it due to RWD and we moved up north. I recently inquired for a lease ram before deep diving into buying and just wanted to know if this is a good deal. I did get a quote for a Tacoma cheaper vehicle and it’s the same price as the ram shockingly.

Any danger in holding off on fixing the exhaust manifold crack?

I’ve got the bloody tick. And it’s bad timing. Currently in the process of moving and don’t have the time or space to have the header swapped (would rather do it myself to save the money). I’ve heard of some guys running with the crack for a while but my dad mentioned to me my brother had an exhaust leak that melted through his gas tank. Obviously I’m not worried about my gas tank melting but what should I be concerned with when that exhaust is dumping extra hot air into the engine bay.

Aftermarket Head unit and Speakers

Just got a 2016 ram 1500, curious what the best head unit is along with tweeters and speakers for better quality audio for music. Won’t need a sub if the unit amplifies and the speakers Can withhold the constant high volume and bass. I like my music load and I listen to rap mostly. Just traded in my dodge charger and the difference in the stock speakers is horrendous, on top of no touch screen and less bells and whistles. I know the airy cab is any truck vs small studio like cab of sedans plays a major part but I just don’t want to waste money on low quality after market parts that normally work great but don’t last. LMK!

New engine

So I have a 2019 Ram 1500 limited. Last year my air suspension failed on the truck and costs me about 7k to fix at the dealer. Recently the hemi tick got me, so I need a new engine and intake manifold, and mufflers. Got quoted 15k at the dealer. If the engine is replaced is it possible it will have the same tick?

Not starting

Got a 2015 Ram, 1500 express. That ran perfect. Last night. Went out to start it this morning. Absolutely, nothing. Is this a common issue? All the accessories were windows. Everything else, but I hear no clicks. When trying to turn it over could be the starter, possibly, or battery Or you think it's something major thanks for any advice.

Ram 1500 shifting issues

I got a 24 Ram 1500 about 3 months ago and it is slow to shift on inclines and when first starting to drive. It only has 42k miles, is this a common issue with the truck?

Body work

2016 Ram , I hit a deer. Took my truck to body shop for repairs. Insurance claim. The new bumper is less proud of the top finish piece. Gives the look of buck teeth. And it appears to be loose. Like if I were to drive 80 mph it might flap. Hopefully the picture shows this. Can’t figure out how to add the video .

Whining/whirring noise related to RPM

2021 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock. This starts after driving on the highway for 30-45 minutes, and seems to be only related to RPM and not speed, so I don’t think it’s gearing whine. Maybe alternator? Sounds too..electric to be belt whine. What do you guys think? It’s super clear in the first couple seconds of the video.

Stuck in 4WD

EDIT UPDATE

The last few days in NYC the trucks been great with 4wd but I’ve shut it off when unnecessary or had it in auto only used it in low when trying get myself into a snowed in spot or used high if the road was bad still but I just got home put it on low and then all these messages came up and it won’t let me switch out of it. Has anyone had this issue? Is it going to have to go into the dealer? Any help would be amazing

EDIT* my truck was dropped off at the dealer on March 13th after multiple calls back and fourth and then trying to tell me it was ergonomics of my lift that was messing up my truck and that I should bring it back to stock height and stock wheels. I read more online about the 4 wheel drives electronic system and saw the ABS system has a lot of involvement and when I insisted for them to just do my ABS module recall they again insisted that it was not gonna solve my issue but I persisted they do it. They called said it was done and still stuck in 4Lo. So I had it towed back to my house a month later and what do you know it was in 2wd and switched between all 4wd modes just fine so dealers are actually clueless about their own vehicles

Almost killed my 2012 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi

Posting this as a PSA for fellow Hemi owners, because I almost cooked my motor and I want to save someone else the heart attack.

I’ve got a 2012 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi, 184k on the clock. Truck had been running fine, no warnings, no messages on the dash. I was driving it hard… like I stole it, honestly. No idea the oil was creeping down.

Then one day the check engine light came on and started flashing. I got it home, shut it off. When I cranked it back up… that’s when I heard it. The Hemi tick.

Popped the hood, pulled the dipstick. Oil was ~4 quarts low. On a 7-quart system. I was running on basically 3 quarts of oil. 🥺😐

What I did:

  1. Topped off the oil immediately, tick and CEL still there
  2. Pulled codes, found which cylinder was misfiring
  3. Replaced the spark plug and ignition coil on that cylinder
  4. Did a full oil change: 6 quarts Mobil 1 5W-20 + 1 quart Lucas Oil Stabilizer
  5. Started it up … tick was still there, CEL still on
  6. Drove it carefully (no boot, no high RPMs) for about 50 miles

After that ~50 miles, the tick faded out and the CEL cleared itself. Truck has been running clean ever since. No codes, no ticking.

About the Lucas:

I know throwing Lucas in is probably overkill and some of you will tell me it's snake oil (fair). But honestly, at the point I was at, I was already mentally pricing out a new long block. If Lucas was gonna do anything to help cushion worn bearings or quiet down a noisy lifter while I waited to see if the motor would survive, I was willing to try it. It worked, or at least it didn't hurt. I'll take it.

Next oil change plan:

At 184k I'm thinking about switching to 5W-30 high mileage going forward. The slightly thicker oil should help with worn bearing clearances and ring sealing, and the high mileage formula has seal conditioners that help with the aging valve seals (which is probably part of why these Hemis start drinking oil in the first place). Curious if anyone else made the 5W-20 → 5W-30 jump on a high mileage Hemi and how it went.
