Hi all,
Our bench springer boy just turned two years old and we’ve been throwing around the idea of a second dog. He loves other dogs so much and we feel really bad sometimes that he doesn’t have a buddy. We don’t leave the house for long periods of time but even leaving for an hr or so breaks our heart. We’re not sure if we’re crazy for considering it 🫣 if we do get a second dog we’d want to get something a big smaller, he’s about 55lbs, and we wouldn’t want to get a dog slightly smaller and maybe a little lower energy if possible. Would love any tips, recommendations, personal experiences. Did your life turn chaotic when you got two?
Our 15 year old Springer has possibly got IBD. She has been prescribed steroids. At the moment all she’s eating is chicken. I stew chicken portions for her. Does anybody know if minced chicken has a higher fat content? Can anyone suggest a diet that works? I’ve seen a lot on line but don’t know what to try.
Our Wellie boy (aka Wellington or Wellie Belly) is enjoying the neighborhood in full bloom.
All cut and ready for the summer 🥰
After searching online for puppy breeders I found this breeder’s Facebook page and also found them on gooddog.com. I don’t see mention of them anywhere else, though. Does anyone know anything about Willow Creek Farms?
Bardas is already 15 weeks old and growing up so fast! He’s started losing his tiny puppy teeth as his big adult teeth begin to come in. 🐾
I really need some help and advice. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
We have wonderful male English springer spaniel, not pedigree, from a working background, 7 years old. We have one single problem thats slowly driving myself and my wife to distraction. He obsessively licks himself, on a general area, 3 specific spots. All above this hind legs across his back.
We had him to the vets who recommended an animal psychologist who worked with us for weeks, trying everything to no avail.
It comes and goes. He can go 3-4 months without licking, then a cycle starts when we just can’t stop it. We have to make him wear the ‘cone of shame’. When he starts licking, he almost looks to get the cone on in order to stop it. He almost knows he shouldn’t be doing it.
Some back ground. He’s walked each morning through a forest park to a beach, off the lead, free to roam. 5km, 1 hour. He’s played with every night find, fetch & sniff games. He’s on a 80% protein, fish and veg diet, has been since we worked out what he could actually eat. He’s happy, lively, intelligent and vocal. He spends 80% of the time with one of us around.
When I give him attention, which I do all the time, he feels a real urge to start on that area again. Strangely, not when my wife does.
He’s had the cone on for 2 months now…
We even have a pool lol
Hi, I’m looking to get a show line English Springer Spaniel around August/September of this year. I’ve already reached out to a couple breeders but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for breeders they recommend. I live in California but am willing to travel to other nearby states.
One of the hardest parts of being away for work is knowing Harley is often sitting and staring at the gate waiting for me to come home 😭😭.
For whatever reason I am absolutely mourning and terrified of her having the surgery tomorrow. I even contemplated canceling several times.
She’s the first pup I’ve had where we delayed spaying. She’s had 1 heat (in Feb) and just turned 1 y/o. Her down time post op is soo long and I am feeling so guilty about doing this to her :(
We have no intention to breed but also I am so in love with her the way she is I feel like I’m “fixing” something that’s already perfect? I’m also so worried about the way her weight and coat will change.
Any supportive insights are welcome ❤️
