Mango's progress report. From chasing to watching the birds together..
Hi everyone. Mango is 1 year old now and has been in adolescence as of 5 months old I think...some things we get used to, some come and go, we continue training and hope he will mature later on...some things I wanted your advice on as I think it might be partially breed related.
Fomo. Fomo is really a thing here. I can leave him alone at home for a while, but its impossible for me to go upstairs and do the laundry. Or go to the garden for 5 minutes to do something without his assistance, as he is a huge plant lover lol. He will start barking until I return. Not sure how to deal with it.
Dinner (lunch, whatever) time. He tries to jump on the dining table for food. We tell him "sit", or "place and stay", we tether him, and even try to put him in a small room next to the dining room while we eat. He does not get interested in a chew while we are eating. If we try to separate him from the dining table by tethering, for example, even if I sit next to him then, he starts barking. So no idea how we can eat as a family without him jumping on the table for food or barking because he can not.
Barking because he does not get what he wants/ not allowed something. He does not bark at other dogs, cats, at anything, just because we do not let him do something.
Other dogs. They take his attention completely away from me. I let him off leash only if its open space and no dog to be seen. The moment there is another dog, his recall is zero. And he will not let this dog alone, tries to play. Even when the other dog shows its enough, almost bites him, he continues. As if he does not read their body language. As a result we try to avoid the dogs and he does not get that much off leash time.
Mango 1 year old! Birthday boy.
Hi everyone...i would love to hear advice/experience on eos granuloma. My cat has it on the hard pallate. He had a bad calicivirus infection this winter (he was vaccinated but nevertheless) and first his mouth ulcer was thought to be part of the infection. I actually think may be it was there before as well.
My cat is for sure prone to allergy, most probably something environmental. We are in the country where cats are not tested for allergy. I did elimination diet, did not see much difference. I dont give fish and try to avoi chicken, he gets mostly rabbit last months.
So when in winter the (huge; about 2-3 cm) mouth ulcer on the pallate was found, he got doxycycline twice. It helped a bit, as in he stopped drooling and started eating. He afterwards received a short course of dexamethasone, no change in ulcer diameter.
The vet offerred to try cyclosporine. He is now on week 10. His ulcer is smaller, but is still there. It looks much better, lets say, but not ideal. Still about 1 cm may be. He further seems, finally, the usual self, with good appetite and nicely vocal. I think the ulcer does not bother him, he eats mostly wet food, some kibble in the evening - I mean he does not seem to have pain in the mouth.
So I dont know what to do, continue on cyclosporine? For how long?
He also has feline hyperesthesia and is on gabapentine for it.
First vacation with Mango. He enjoyed for sure. Driving home now, with overnight stay. 6 hrs today and 6 tomorrow.
First long drive travel with Mango (12 hours, we divided it into 2 days). Denmark. He enjoys the cold sea
One more month and he will be 1 year old, can't believe it.
Hi everyone.
So I know my breeder will never read it, she is not on Reddit. Mango comes from a fantastic breeder. If I ever go for one more springer, I will chose her again.
Now about the leash. I take a lot of advice from our breeder. She has lots of knowledge. However, this is what she uses for leash walking - to avoid misunderstanding, her dogs walk like 90% of the time off leash. But for the walks when they need to "behave", this is what she uses. What are everyones thoughts on this?
Gewoon omdat hij schattig is. Onze kat liet wat brokken liggen (hij eet vaak buiten met die warme weer) en toe kwam die gast...
Some summer pictures of Mango and a slight progress with the cat (still chases but now not ALL the time)
Some home puctures. I love flowers, some in these pictures are from our garden, live arranging them.
Waiting...something Mango is very good at!
Warm weather here, so we had to think of some water for him in the garden.
Loves swimming, our 9 m.old.
9 months and a terrible teenager. Very happy young gentleman 🤣 Recall is absent, leash manners absent. But a delightful company, a bit too velcro for me but am getting used to it. Loves swimming!
Hi everyone,
I guess I just need a vent. May be some people can relate.
I (F, 51) work fulltime from home and have a 9 m.o. puppy.
I used to have office job, travelled a lot for my work, but 3 years ago things changed and I started working from home. Which I actually love.
I used to dress nice but working from home made me wear more simple/comfy clothes. I also have some chronic pain issues, so I really can not stand clothes which are tight or feel strange on my skin etc.
I wanted to have a dog for a long time and WFH finally gave this opportunity. We got our puppy in October, survived the cold, rainy autumn and winter with some snow. The puppy took a lot of my energy and sanity and made normal looking clothing non-existent with biting, jumping on me etc.
So now our young gentleman is almost 9 months old and seems to be settling down a bit.
I am struggling with my looks lately. I just do not like the way I look. All these free-time loungewear looks great on the models when shopping online, after 2-3 times of washing everything looks baggy, strange...I am 51 but I think am still quite good looking, people whom I meet for the first time never give me my age. But I just hate how I look lately. I cant figure out how to combine the dog with decent clothing. He is an active breed, so our walks are not very relaxed and often include mud/swimming (not me swimming lol).
Just needed a vent I guess. I also noticed lately my husband never compliments me when I wear something nice, guess that might be part of the problem as well.
Anyway, what do you ladies wear if stay at home mom or working from home? Open for any suggestions...
