i work at a gamestop - our sign just decided to fall off

some absolute crazy shit. i was minding my own business and then i heard a loud noise and saw some movement outside the door and i look up and it’s just… falling. we’re in the middle of a massive heat wave and looking at the screws that were holding it in place, it looks like the heat caused it to expand and come loose. it came VERY close to hitting my car (still can’t tell if that’s a good or bad thing ngl), and the only thing that stopped it from doing so was that light post right in front of it. the REAL mildly infuriating part was having to pick it up and get it into the back because we were told “if someone steals it, it’s on you”.

4th of July Food Truck Burger

I folded it up and stuffed it back into the mini bun.

Edit to add: total with tip $16.68.

I did not order it any specific way. I ordered the first burger on the menu which was “single burger”. Yes, I know now I should’ve ordered a double. There was no option for lettuce & tomato. Description was pickle, onion, cheese and the company special sauce. Idk why I didn’t get cheese.

My boss is telling me I cannot bring in and supply my coworkers with 3-ply TP and must use the offered 1-ply.

Yes I will talk to my boss further about this because I don’t understand how the supplied reasoning is adequate unless its somehow an osha violation or somehow disruptive to the company.

Bought Mario Kart World at Target - case didn’t have the cartridge

Before leaving town for a roadtrip, I bought a carrier for my switch 2, a Switch 2 Pro Controller, and Mario Kart World. Though, when I opened the Mario Kart World case this morning, it was empty - no cartridge to be found. The case was wrapped in plastic, so I’d no reason to suspect the game wasn’t in there.

I’ve gone to Target, but they don’t accept returns on opened games. Nintendo customer service wasn’t helpful either, though I understand why both companies would be suspicious. I legitimately don’t know how to get the game I paid for or my $80 back. Big time disappointed.

The cork fell into the salt shaker and I can’t get it back out.

We have a chicken-shaped salt shaker at work. The cork from the chicken’s “butt” accidentally fell inside. It’s a tapered cork that’s wider on one end, so it went in but now I can’t get it back out.

Doctors: “We can’t figure out what’s wrong with your vision so we’re gonna blame it on your weight!”

I went suddenly blind in about 15% of my field of vision in my left eye right before I turned 32. Went straight to the emergency room, no signs of a stroke, everything looked golden so they determined it must be neurological. Sent me to a neurologist.
She took one look at me and informed me that it was probably because I was overweight, and my spinal column was producing too much spinal fluid, which was then causing pressure on my brain and acting like a tumor. Got a spinal tap. Pressure was on the low end of normal.

Went back to her. Was told “I still think it’s related to you being significantly overweight. If you lose weight your vision will probably come back.”

At the time I was 5’7” tall and weighed 155 lbs. I was competing regularly in Brazilian jiu jitsu, rock climbing, and hiking almost every weekend.

Now, I will admit that I was carrying a little bit of extra fat pack here and there. However, I also am pretty dang sure that there’s a *LOT* of humans out there that are a lot fatter than me and almost all of them can still see?

(Fun? ending to the story: I had a DVT about a year later and they were like “oh shit you have a clotting disorder we missed, our bad! You definitely had a stroke that either cleared itself or was so small we missed it in the ER.” I’m on blood thinners now but I still get mad when I think about it)

EDITED TO ADD/ FAQs:
I’ve been to two retinal specialist, I’ve been to a general ophthalmologist, I’ve been to an Opthoneurologist, I went to three or four general neurologist, and then I’ve been to my cardiologist and my hematologist.

I have been fully checked! we know what caused it! I just didn’t write about all the other doctors initially because none of them were infuriating.

The vision is permanently gone unfortunately.

I am on a daily blood thinner, which means that I don’t get to compete in the sport I love anymore, but I am still able to do it with trusted partners, which is so much better than I thought it would be when I first heard that I would have to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life!

This all happened several years ago and I’ve been living a happy, healthy life for the last three years, (which is also part of the reason why it’s only mildly infuriating as this is in my past) I just was thinking about it today because one of my friends had a similar comment from a doctor.

Also, yes, I did have severe medical anxiety for several years after being mystery blind for a year and going to a different doctor couldn’t tell me why I was mystery blind constantly! My hematologist and one of the neurologist went a really really long way towards helping me get to a better place about it by being kind and very willing to keep me in the loop. I also spent a lot of money on therapy.

The heat in my house melted my candy bar.

AC has been out for officially one week. Went to grab a sweet treat before bed, chocolate already soft. Lame.

My prescription says to cut my pills in half, but they aren't scored for easy division...

Most of the time if I'm required to take one and a half tablets, the pills have a score line down the middle that helps me cut it in half. They are just being cheap with this one, I know they have this particular medication with a dosage that does not require me to cut it in half.

Made cupcakes for my mother's birthday, then she made me throw them away.

So I made some cupcakes for my mother's birthday. Nothing too fancy, there were plenty of other deserts. Took me about an hour to make all twenty four. Anyways when I was putting them away, we were casually talking and she asked if I had taken the egg whites out.

Now I never take out the egg whites (why would you?) since it wouldn't affect the cupcakes. I told her I had not taken them out, and she got quite angry. She told me how bad it was to leave them in, and how gross and how much it affects baking. So I had to run down to the store and grab new mixes and make new cupcakes. And yes, I threw away the other ones :/.

edit: I'm an idiot, she was talking about the little white stuff on the side on the egg yolk, not egg whites
