I feel broken games are some of the best GG series to watch.
In December I did a search on myself to see what would come up. By searching my name and state, the search engine revealed correct info. But the AI overview claimed I had a federal trial for felony assault!
I’ve never been arrested or charged with anything. By checking what the AI cited (something I think people rarely do), I discovered someone in my state with my last name but a very different first name had been involved in such activities. I scoured the page and my first name isn’t even on it!
The dumb AI can’t tell the difference between my name and this other person’s name. This was not a one-off. This is what I have found around a hundred times, searching on different devices whenever doing an AI mode search - correct info coupled with false info. Mostly about the assault, sometimes about drug charges.
I had the Secretary of State office contact the company. The company said I needed to use their AI feedback options to report the problem - something I had already done DOZENS of times!
The SOS office again reached out to the company but I received the same response - that it was on ME to get this corrected. It’s been EIGHT MONTHS!
This feels like libel. The search company is presenting and publishing to the world false info. ANYONE who looks me up and my state via the AI mode search (friends, family, potential employers) sees this BS.
I already contacted my reps - nothing being done. I can’t sue, either. The company is massive, I don’t have the money, and I can’t prove damages.
I strongly recommend everyone reading this to check yourself on AI searches. Who knows what you may find. I feel so powerless. And so many people blindly believe what AI claims.
I know the IRS has lost a ton of staff. That would explain why it took over a week to reach anyone. But they closed out my case ONE WEEK BEFORE mailing me a request to call them! I guess I should’ve built a time machine.
