Student loan interest trap

On Monday, after over two decades, I had finally managed to pay off my student loans. Or so I thought. 🫩 As I waited for the payment to process, I noticed I had a new balance this morning. Higher than the amount they themselves had instructed me to pay to “pay off the loan”.

So now I have to wait thirty days to see if they’ll write off this interest they forced me to accrue.

Really didn’t think student loans could be an even bigger scam than they already are

Idiot in a mask

Some idiot has been running around Philadelphia terrorizing people wearing this absolutely ridiculous mask on, threatening them so I'm just gonna say that one day he's gonna do this to the wrong person and could get potentially seriously injured or killed.

When my mom retired, 8 years ago, she made $45k a year and bought a house. The second house she had through my life. Now, I make $50k and I can’t afford rent. Like somewhere you wouldn’t even want to live, can’t afford it.

And what’s more. I’m about to move to get a better job, same type of area, very remote. I’ll make $102k gross household income. And I still. Will barely be able to afford rent somewhere that’s actually worth living.

My childhood home, “we”bought for $140k. It’s selling for $670k.

I don't know whether to be glad this piece of shit died or pissed off that he got to die of a heart attack without experiencing even a fraction of the suffering he put her through

Case breakdown:

Russian model Anzhelika Tartanova (33) was reportedly in a relationship with millionaire construction businessman Dmitry Kuzmin (41) for around six months. According to investigators, she tried to end the relationship, after which Kuzmin allegedly launched a brutal attack on her.

She suffered devastating head injuries and underwent emergency surgery in which doctors had to remove a large portion of her skull to relieve life-threatening brain swelling. The attack left her with severe brain damage, affecting her speech, memory, and coordination.

Reports say she was left critically injured outside until a passerby found her and called an ambulance. Russian media also reported that while she was in the hospital, Kuzmin allegedly used her phone for about a week to send messages to friends pretending she was fine, delaying concern over her disappearance.

She survived after multiple surgeries and was expected to undergo reconstructive surgery using custom 3D-printed implants to replace the missing part of her skull. However, she was left with permanent, life-changing neurological injuries and faces a long rehabilitation.

Kuzmin was arrested and charged with attempted murder (some reports describe the charge as causing grievous bodily harm, depending on the stage of the case). Before the trial could conclude, he reportedly died of a heart attack. Because of his death, the criminal case was effectively closed, meaning he was never convicted or sentenced.

driving other people's cars

I’m a mechanic at a dealership, so I’m constantly test‑driving cars. We also offer free pickup and drop‑off we’ll come to your house, your job, wherever. People use it all the time. I’ve even had to pick up cars out of state because the owner or manager had a friend who “needed a favor.” Basically, if someone has more power than me, I’m the one sent to go get the car.

My problem isn’t the driving. It’s what I’m getting into.

I’ve gotten into cars with mountains of trash so much that I had to shovel it off the seat just to sit down. I’ve gotten into cars with bugs crawling around, rotten food everywhere. One lady told me she went grocery shopping months ago, never brought the bags inside, and hasn’t driven the car since. You can imagine the smell. Actually, no you probably can’t.

Some cars smell like old, defrosted corn dogs. Some smell like someone dragged the car out of a swamp and then pissed and shit in it for good measure. Some smell like cigarettes and depression mixed together. It’s wild.

And look I get it. Everyone needs their car worked on. That’s literally why we’re here. But the same customers who hand us these biohazard-level vehicles are the ones who love to sit there and complain, yell, and blame us for anything they think we did wrong.

Meanwhile, their cars are so disrespectful you wouldn’t invite a friend to sit in them, let alone ask someone to come pick them up and work on them.

And the wildest part? They act shocked shocked when we mention anything about the condition of the car. Like, sir, I’m not judging your life choices, but your vehicle is one bad smell away from becoming a crime scene. with me as the victim, I've open car doors before and had to fight to not throw up in front of the customer

At this point, I’m convinced some people don’t need a mechanic. They need a hazmat team and a therapist.
