Car Trouble (Single Version) - Adam & the Ants

Car Trouble (Single Version) - Adam & the Ants

I like the way this track takes a song from the original Ants era and re-fashions it with the best aspects of the Ants mk2.

I can't wait to read Marco Pirroni's autobiography due out next month. I love autobiographies about that era, and I can't think of anyone who 'was there' more than him.

Banshees - Supernatural Thing

I've often preferred the b-side or extra tracks of Banshees singles to the a-side. And this one is a particular favourite of mine. It's funk, but with a dislocated hip.

Patti Smith - Dancing Barefoot (Lyrics)

Patti Smith kind of straddles pre-punk, punk, and post punk at various points. This song's from '79 and falls fairly well into the post punk category, IMO. It had a very big influence.

Babyface Clan-Magnifying glass

Not really in the post-punk timeline, but post-punk influences and DNA, just in my opinion. For a brief period the singer and guitarist came to London, performing under the name The Imbeciles & Poison Umbrella' and were signed to Marco Pirroni's fledgling label, Only Lovers Left Alive. Released one single and played a few live shows.

Luxuria - Redneck HD

It's a shame that Howard D had fallen off the radar a bit at this point because Luxuria made a couple of pretty good albums. Perhaps the most accessible work he's ever done.

The Homosexuals "Hearts In Exile"

A band with an interesting history of lost and rediscovered tapes. Bruno Wizard, singer, claims that they chose the name to put off any major record company interest. They were all straight.

The Bolshoi - Happy Boy HD

I saw The Bolshoi live in the 80s - maybe '84. I think they were supporting Lords of the New Church, and I was pretty impressed. I thought they'd go on to bigger things. In hindsight, I suppose their sound was very much of its time. Also at this gig [Lyceum] Stiv Bators was rescued from hanging himself from the lighting rig. At the time it was alarming, but again in hindsight, I suppose it must have been staged. Where do the years go?

Up Against the Wall -- TRB

TRB were on the frontline. And it was really important at the time. Maybe it will be again if we forget the past.

I'm In Love With A German Film Star

I know this one isn't obscure, but it's one of my all time favourites. Please excuse my indulgence :-)

Original Indie Rock song using Solaria - no Generative AI

Here's a new indie rock song - 'My Beloved Scars' using Solaria 1. I've been working with Solaria 2 for ages, but I find it has a nasal tone and heavier accent when singing with any power :-(
