29M4A LF friends from around Baltics. The closer the better.
Not looking for a relationship. Just cool people to one day do stuff with. I wanna keep this short, so I'll just drop some basic key points in no particular order and let me know in DMs if we have something in common:
Started a new job at a startup recently, loving it so far. It allows me to be fully remote and set my own hours in a team in which I am always the dumbest person in the room. I dont like talking about work tho, and find people who do fairly boring. Please dont be boring.
I enjoy board games. Casual (Cards Against Humanity/Fiasco) and complex (Magic, Gloomhaven) alike. Even working on one myself. Video games too, but I wouldn't call myself a serious gamer.
I read (non-superhero) Graphic Novels as much as I can, but the rate has decreased steadily. Tried writing my own stuff, and adapting existing stuff, but... idk, not much came out of it... the writers lifestyle just isnt the one for me... idk, I wish it was... Maybe I should start reviewing them. Maybe we should start a Graphic Novel podcast!
I studied Sociocultural Anthropology, then some Human Computer Interaction. I wish I had more time to read HCI research papers for myself because what the mainstream reports on the matter of AI these days is giving me seizures.
As ''not religious'' as a person in a Judeo-Christian society can claim to be. Dont think I believe in any conscious higher powers. Most people who people who could be born will never be - they will not even exist. And it is more likely for nothing at all to exist than for something to exist. And yet, here we are. Randomness is the closest thing to real life magic, and I prefer it that way. 😄 Not an atheist either, in case I sound like one.
I do follow politics pretty closely, but I dont care much for any ideology or political party. I am more concerned about regional autonomy and democracy being representative and action oriented, not ethereal identity based... I did research about 40 ideologies when working on my board game and the one that seemed to be the most humanistic and sane was Anarchism I suppose. Three most sensible anarchist-adjacent thinkers I'd (mostly) agree with would be Michael Malice (the GOAT), David Graeber (RIP, G) and Henry David Thoreau (haven't yet read his stuff but people more knowledgeable than me have said I'd love him).
I listen to divorced dad rock (Three Days Grace) unironically. I like the tamer punk rock (Green Day) and hardcore (Rise Against) stuff. Gerard Way is the coolest Homo Sapiens in my view. ❤️
I greatly enjoy Volunteering for all kinds of tech conferences. I think that's where the most genuinely awesome people are to be found. Among the volunteers, not necessarily the attendees, lol. I've eased down on it in recent times, but I will not die peacefully till I do Slush at least once in my lifetime.
I prefer cycling along the shoreline/in the forest on my MTB over doing touristy stuff. Especially alone. I must say I'm quite a loner in general tho, but that's beside the point. Museums are fine, however I must warn I leave no plaque unread. If we ever visit one together, expect me to take my time.
My country celebrates Summer Solstice at end of June. Theres 20H of light that day. I am sober for 8 years now, so instead of getting wasted as is the custom, I plan to organize a David Goggins/Ironman inspired endurance sports thingy for my friends. Where we do as much as we can from dawn till dusk. Lets see if enough people sign up, and if anyone of you could join. No worries, I am not in Sweden.
Theres always more to tell, but for now this will be it. Hit me with a reply, commenting on anything I mentioned from your perspective and lets go from there! Have a nice summer! 😄
