After years away from app development, I finally launched my first iOS app: Softlog

Hey everyone,

I started developing apps a long time ago, but I eventually stopped because university became too stressful. After that, I worked as an app developer for a while, but the pay wasn’t great and I slowly moved away from building my own things.

Later, I decided to pursue a master’s degree. To be honest, it hasn’t been the easiest experience so far. I’ve struggled to find a job, went through a breakup, and at some point I just thought: screw it, I’m going to start building apps again.

So I want to share my first app after a long break: Softlog.

Softlog is a simple mood journal/diary app built around very short daily entries. Each entry has a 140-character limit, so journaling doesn’t feel heavy or intimidating.

The idea is simple:

Write one short entry,
choose how you feel,
and slowly build a history of your emotional patterns.

Over time, Softlog helps you see your mood history, recognize patterns, and get small insights based on your entries.

I built it because journaling always felt useful to me, but also overwhelming. I wanted something lighter — something you could actually stick with even during difficult times.

It’s my first app in a while, so I’d really appreciate any feedback, especially about the idea, the design, and what could make it more useful

any ways this my first app after a while i will appreciate , some support and well i'll accept any advice of improving, or ideas for my next apps 😄

I built a 140-character mood journal for people who struggle to journal consistently

Hello Reddit Community

I’ve tried journaling many times, especially when I wanted to better understand my emotions, but I always ended up quitting after a few days.

The blank page felt intimidating, and writing long entries started to feel like another task I was failing at.

So I built Softlog — a very simple mood journal with a hard 140-character limit.

The idea is not to write a perfect journal entry. It’s just to gently check in with yourself once a day:

write one sentence,
choose your mood,
and you’re done in about 30 seconds.

Over time, Softlog gives you a mood-colored calendar, a streak counter, and an optional AI monthly summary to help you reflect on emotional patterns.

No pressure. No overwhelming prompts. No need to explain everything.

Just a tiny daily space to notice how you’re doing.

It’s available on the App Store if anyone here wants to try it. I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from this community, especially from people who have struggled with journaling or mood tracking before.

How to improve with networking

Hi everyone,

I’m new here and I’d really appreciate some advice.

I’ve been in tech for a while. During my bachelor’s degree, before the AI boom, I started building software for companies with some friends, and we managed to sell a couple of projects. Since then, we’ve continued trying different ideas. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t.

Recently, I moved to another country to do my master’s degree. While studying, I met someone who had an idea for a SaaS product and wanted to build it together. Unfortunately, working with her became very problematic, and in the end, she kind of scammed us. It wasn’t a huge amount of money, but it was still a bad experience.

Now I’ve finished my master’s degree, but I haven’t been able to find a job yet. I think I have decent experience, but I know the market is difficult. Because of that, I’ve started building apps again to learn, experiment, and understand how to launch online products and SaaS projects.

I also have a bigger idea that I really want to launch. The problem is that lately, when I try to work with partners or friends, I feel like they are not fully focused or are more interested in other things. At the same time, I know part of the problem might be me. I’m not very good at communication, networking, or reaching out to people. I often feel like I’m bothering others, and I can be shy.

For people who have been through something similar: how did you improve your networking and communication skills? How do you find serious people to work with? And how do you stop feeling like you’re annoying others when trying to connect?

Any advice would be appreciated.
