Google My Activity search bar completely broken (Zero results when typing anything, laptop & mobile) - Backend indexing issue?
Hey everyone,
I am experiencing a bizarre issue with my Google My Activity page that I cannot seem to fix. I’ve gone through every standard and advanced troubleshooting step imaginable, and it’s still completely broken.
The Symptom:
My activity timeline updates perfectly fine. I can see my recent searches and history listed out in chronological order. However, the moment I type anything at all into the My Activity search bar, it immediately returns absolutely zero results. It fails even when I type a single letter with absolutely no search filters applied.
The Critical Detail:
This happens on both my laptop and my mobile device. Because it is cross-device, it doesn’t seem to be a local browser or hardware glitch.
Everything I have already tried (with no resolution):
- Verified Web & App Activity is fully turned ON in my Google account settings.
- Checked and confirmed "Show personal results" / "Search Personalization" is explicitly enabled in my Google Search Preferences.
- Disabled all browser extensions (ad blockers, privacy tools, etc.).
- Cleared browser cache, cookies, and local data.
- Toggled "Make searching and browsing better" / Autocomplete settings off and on to force a sync.
- Toggled Hardware / Graphics Acceleration on and off in my browser settings.
- Attempted the "Last Resort" server re-index trick by manually deleting a recent item directly from my timeline to see if it would force the database to refresh.
- Submitted a formal bug report via "Help & Feedback" to Google.
Since it fails across multiple devices and networks, it really feels like an account-level database indexing error on Google’s backend servers where my personal data isn't being queried correctly when a text filter is applied.
Is anyone else experiencing this right now, or has anyone successfully dealt with this kind of backend freeze before? How long does it usually take to clear up?
