iPhone 11 – 2 screws stuck on proximity sensor bracket during screen replacement (need help
Hi everyone,
I’m replacing the screen on my iPhone 11 and everything has gone fine so far. However, I’m now stuck when trying to transfer the proximity sensor / earpiece assembly from the old screen to the new one.
There are 4 screws on the bracket (top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right).
I’ve already managed to remove 2 of them, but the other 2 are stuck:
bottom left
top right
They seem either stuck really tight or slightly stripped, because my screwdriver no longer gets proper grip and just slips.
I’m using a Y 0.6 precision screwdriver, and I also tried another screwdriver, but both keep slipping and can’t turn the screws anymore.
What I’ve tried so far:
different screwdrivers
applying steady, controlled pressure
carefully re-seating the driver for better grip
trying multiple angles
But still no success.
Has anyone dealt with this before on an iPhone 11 screen replacement? What’s the best way to remove these screws without damaging the bracket or the flex cable?
Any advice or tool recommendations would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
