my samsung a53 stopped working, went to a shop to get it fixed. need help knowing if i can get my stuff off it

so monday my phone turned off while at full battery and wouldnt turn on. i went to a repair shop and the guy said the usb port wasn't responding and he would replace it. today he phoned saying he its still not working but isnt a usb or battery problem (i think) and that it was either a motherboard or something connected to it which he can replace. basically im just asking whats the likelihood that this fixs it or should i mentaly prepair for just getting a new phone. im already down like 190 cad for this (100 for the usb and going to be 90 for this fix) and really dont want to spend more money.

im sorry if this is vauge, this is stressing me out so much my memory isnt very good and i cant remember what the guy said over the phone that he was going to fix

Is it possible to open this iPhone 13 without breaking the screen?

I have received this iPhone 13 from a customer to change the battery, but the screen is damaged, and it already happened to me once that I broke an LCD in this state. Do I try, or is it very likely to break the LCD?

Thank you.

Phone got water in it

Yesterday my phone got water in it and the screen turned green and it was blinking and today I’ve been using it for about an hour and it seems fine but there’s one problem and there’s a specific part of my screen where it’s hard to touch and my dad told me to charge my phone because I would need it so I’ve been charging it and I think that caused a problem, but the screen was already broken before I started charging my phone so I’m not sure what I should do and how much it will cost to get the screen replaced I have an iPhone 16. also, I’m not sure if this is the correct subreddit. I’m so sorry if it’s not.

Anyone have experience with EasyJTAG/Medusa/Octoplus Boxes?

Hi everyone,

I've got a bunch of old phones (pre and early android era) and want to do "physical" dumps of their memory to recover and scrape for photos and videos.

I would like to use a tool to help me but I've not found definitive claims that any of the jtag tools will support my phones and will be able to do physical data dumps. Some claim to do firmware repairs but they don't focus on data recovery.

One other option I'm thinking of going down is chip off and custom tools to read the data. Find pinouts datasheets and schematics, which i have done, and create custom PCBs and software but this will take a lot of time and effort i want to avoid.

I tried downloading the respective software for EsayJTAG and Medusa but they seem to not run without the hardware and I don't want to spend £200 to £500 and end up with a device that doesn't do what I want and that I can't probably resell because of activation crap.

Here are my phones for reference

Name Storage size Storage type OS
Samsung GT-S5230 50MB raw NAND Pre-android
Samsung C3300K 30MB probably raw NOR Pre-android
Sony Xperia C1505 4gb eMMC ealry android
Sony Ericsson Z770i 32MB ? Pre-android
Nokia Lumia 550 8GB eMMC Windows

Edit: I just found a cheap RIFF box so soon I'll have that to play around with. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome

Ipad 9th Gen Home Button

I have an Ipad 9th gen with a bad home button. It seems as though it still recognizes touch ID as when the original button is installed it does not give me the error message, but the click input is not being recognized at all.

The actuator is missing from the original, but even with a replacement in I still have no response when the button is clicked.

I do get the touch ID error with the new one installed. I have examined the area around the zif connector for the home button and haven't found any damage. All pins are intact and connected.

iPhone 15 Pro Max randomly flickers horizontal lines - what could cause this?

I bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max (iOS 26.5) on eBay and I’m already going through the return process, but I’m trying to figure out what this issue actually is.
The phone randomly flashes/flickers horizontal lines in different parts of the display. It happens at very random moments, but I was able to reproduce it and I’m attaching a video showing it. The back glass is cracked, and the phone also took a hit on the bottom-right corner. According to the device info, the screen was replaced in 2025, but it still shows up as an “original part” in the system.
Does this look like a bad display, a damaged connector, or something else?

How should I fix this iPhone 16 Pro Max

Replaced screen with Aftermarket Soft Oled 120hz. Now there are a few issues:

- Front camera doesn't work.

- Contrast is very weird near true black.

- Weird transitions when going to always on display.

This display was $179. Should I return it? And if I do, which replacement should I get?

Whats going on?

Not sure if this is the right subreddit, but I hope it is, so basically after I turned on my iphone xr last night this weird warpy thing was on my phone. I thought it was just the screen protector that may have been accidentally lifted, but when I took it off to replace the screen protector it was still there so im guessing it is an internal issue. It’s gotten a bit bigger since yesturday, any thoughts? Should I get it checked out?

hello online technicians, few questions from a complete newbie

Hey everyone, im totally new to this and trying to fix my first phone (Samsung A51). Paying 300+ AED for a bad third-party repair isn't an option right now, so I'm doing it myself.

The YouTube tutorials look stressful asf, especially moving the motherboard. I have a few questions for the techs here:

  1. How hard is the A51 for a complete beginner? What's the most annoying/complex part of the teardown?
  2. Frame or no frame? Should I get the screen assembly with the frame already attached, or just the glass/LCD panel? (The motherboard transfer scares me, but gluing a raw screen sounds worse).
  3. Does the NFC variant matter when buying the replacement screen part?
  4. What basic tools are absolute mandatory so I don't completely destroy the back cover or puncture the battery?
  5. Appreciate any tips or warnings before I rip this thing apart!

Quick question about battery.

Can a mobile with a perforated battery still work ?

For context, my mobile's screen was broken, due to multiple impacts, it didn't lightup , but the mobile still received notifications, vibrations and could still charge up.

A week later, I brought it to a repair shop to get a new screen, and they told me that the battery was perforated.

Can a preforated battery still works flawlessly and charge up ?

All I know about perforated battery is that they usually catch fire, which either didn't happen for me, or the battery wasn't actually perforated before the attempt to repair the screen.
