College selection Conundrum
Of late, I have been seeing a lot of posts from students regarding admission in Btech in colleges based in Lucknow.
Here's a little info that you should know-
1- Colleges like IET, KNIT, BIET etc are government colleges that are good but the admission is strictly based on JEE score. The cut-off varies from Branch to Branch which means you have greater chances at a low JEE score if you opt for core branches like Civil, ME or EE as compared to CS and related branches.
2- There are several private colleges in Lucknow which probably have a better reputation.
But, these are private colleges and hence, one must not expect much from them in terms of placements and numbers but you can go and get any branch of your choice including CS and AI related branches. In most colleges, the fees for CS and related branches crosses 1 lakh per year easily while the fees for core branches like Civil, ME and EE is lot less when compared.
3- Private colleges do offer placements but the placements are usually in the range of 3-6 LPA and that too is taken up by a few students who have been sincere, good academically for 4 years and have better communication skills. The rest just get a degree and then go on to explore the markets.
4- The private colleges give you admission with or without JEE score but remember that the scholorship for Btech is only given to the students who take admission through JEE and the direct admission students do not get a scholorship except for Hindu OBC students.
5- If you are on a budget and still looking to become an engineer, or you and your parents find the stability of a government job more important than high paying private jobs, then CIVIL engineering is still your best bet.
For any other query, you can reach out to me via chats and I would be happy to help.
