Manager having bad memory probably cost me a job…

I have to rant…
I’m a part time college student that has been trying to land a job. Finally, I had a choice to choose between a Dietary Aide job or a barista job. I went with dietary aide because I already knew being a barista was stressful. Everything SEEMED like it was going smoothly. I had the interview (felt fine about it) a week later I get a text from that same manager and she tells me to go in for orientation in a few days. I show up, spend 4 hours there and head home. (Feeling good about it)

I get a text a few days later from the manager and she schedules me for a PM shift instead of the set AM shift we discussed at the interview (not a deal breaker honestly) but it gets worse… the shift is on a Monday and starts during my class time. I panic.. I realized she never asked me the specific days and times that I go to school. She only knew I had one class twice a week.

I write out a polite text apologizing for not telling her the specifics about my schedule and offer to head straight to work right after class as a compromise. I thought it was a simple misunderstanding. She texts back and accuses me of never mentioning that I have a school schedule. This is a straight up lie. Every interview I’ve been lucky to get, I prioritize mentioning that I have a school schedule. Of course, it’s my fault for not being specific with her during our interview but I definitely mentioned it to her and she’s saying that I answered “no” when asked if I’m in school.

She’s being rude, cold, accusatory. Honestly, I got defensive and told her that she may have me mixed up with another applicant. I said this because I absolutely refuse to apologize for her bad memory. She’s also acting as if my 2 day a week class makes me completely unavailable to work. She’s clearly pissed with me and now I’m uncomfortable. Anyways, I wanna quit already considering how condescending she has been through text. I’ve never been through this so idk if I can be let go for this. One day has passed and I already scheduled 2 interviews for next week just in case this goes to shit 🫩

Lock in List

I’m currently on a lock in list for a certificate program I regret choosing. I picked it bc I was told that I couldn’t keep taking classes and getting financial aid without pursuing a certificate/degree and was feeling a bit pressured to choose. Now I want to transfer to Long beach city college to pursue a degree there that I’m really interested in. Will my lock in list follow me there or does it stay only in El Caminos system? Is a lock in list really that strict? I feel like I’m wasting time and have to know how stuck I am… 😞

I got 2 jobs offers. One is a Dietary aide in a nursing home and the other is a barista position. Both are super close to home so commute isn’t a factor. Both pay the same ($17). The barista one is part time 7-2pm and the dietary aide one is full time 6-2pm. I use to be a barista and I loved making drinks but the customer interactions were draining over time. Does anyone have experience being a dietary aide? If so, how draining is it? 😭 any advice is appreciated

Hey guys, I’m looking for the book Criminal Procedure by Matthew Lippman 4th or 5th edition. I plan on purchasing a physical copy but it won’t come in time to complete my assignment over the weekend 😭 I thought I’d easily find it since I’ve gotten most of my textbooks off Internet Archive in the past, but I can’t find it anywhere for free. Anyone have any good websites to check? Any advice is appreciated!!
