The way this German bakery writes their S.

Is this a common way to write S for Germans?

UPDATE: I reached out to the bakery, it's in a large US city, it was opened in 2011 and owned by a couple who immigrated from Germany many years ago. The sign was written by one of their workers who is not German, and does their community outreach/participation in Farmer's markets. This was the first time it was brought to their attention. Looks to be innocent, but not well thought out.

New Fire near our destination, to go or not to go?

New Fire sprang up late yesterday from a lightning strike, the fire is 0.25 acres, and being actively addressed by both man and nature (one crew, and moderate rainfall). Problem is, our destination is 1.5 miles from the fire. Feels like the right thing to do is go elsewhere, but it's such a small fire and being contained, makes me want to live dangerously.

What are your thoughts? My initial feelings of going elsewhere feels right, but it also feels like a contained situation.

Data centers mega water consumption and the reasons why.

Very long article, but very informative about just how much water is actually being consumed by these data centers. Something as easy as a small email has a real water cost.

"A single large hyperscale AI campus can now consume more water in a day than a town of ten thousand people uses for everything: drinking, washing, cooking, sanitation, agriculture, and irrigation combined."
