Excessively grooming and licking cat
Our sweet 8 month old tabby rescue got spayed recently and we kept the cone on for two weeks. When we took the cone off two days ago, she has been excessive obsessive licking and grooming for the past two days. This is much more than a normal grooming.
She hasn’t really licked her spay incision or she is not focusing on that. Shes is licking all over her body all day. The incision is almost healed so I’m not worried that.
When I came back home from work yesterday I saw that she had a bald spot on her chest from the excessive grooming.
We gave her one gabapentin yesterday as the vet said we could, and it did basically nothing she still was licking.
She does not have worms or fleas.
Has a healthy appetite and is not allergic to anything as far as I know.
She was so sweet and affectionate when she had the cone on, wanted to be next to me or on my lap at all times, so this she has been a big change in personality.
Any tips or advice would be much appreciated!
