How do I stop my cats from doing this?

Lately my cats have started pulling my clothes into there litter boxes to the point where the clothes are so disgusting that I just throw them away. I've tried cleaning they're litter boxes more often and scrubbing them clean with hot water, but nothing seems to work, has anyone else had this problem and how did you deal with it?

Cats weird biting?

So I'm just curious if anyone knows what this means, I've got a cat who's almost a year old, male, who I bottle fed as a baby, and he's the sweetest boy I've ever had, but he's started this odd behavior where he'll just gently bite down on a finger, and hold it with his teeth and purr with his eyes closed. I'm the only person he does this with, not with my brother nor my mother, just me, and I'm curious if anyone has any idea what this behavior means?? I know its not anything harmful, and nothing is wrong with his teeth/jaw, he's had a recent checkup, but it has me very curious. Thanks!!

Cat is not very affectionate?

I adopted a cat from a family who couldn’t keep him about 6 months ago. he’s not skittish and he doesn’t hiss or run. however he never cuddles or seems to want to get close to me. he’s always sitting on the floor looking at me or on the other couch across from me. the closest i’ve ever gotten him was when i picked him up and held him in bed for a bit and he fell asleep there for a while. he’s willingly gotten on my lap one time since but never again. i really want him to love me … what should i do?

My new cat has lost interest in me.

I rescued a 4 year old cat that I had interactions with on and off for a few months before I brought him home. For the first 2 weeks at home he was very affectionate towards me. What I didn’t know was he was very sick. He was an outdoor cat and had a severe bladder infection and a urinary tract infection. We spent $900 on his care within hours of bringing him home. The vet put him on several meds. For 2 weeks he slept a lot on my bed and interacted in a loving way. It was like he was happy to see me. I have to mention that I was slowly introducing him to my other 2 senior cats.
Now it’s like his real personality is coming out now that he’s off the meds and he doesn’t like me. I wanted a cat that needed attention and would like to interact with me. Is my cat just now going thru the adjustment phase now that he feels better.
I don’t know what happened in the last few days.

My cat always pees in the same spot and he won’t stop

My cat is 6 years old and he is epileptic and he has a very weak immune system, so hes very lethargic. He always sits in the kitchen which is where the food and one of the litter boxes is (the litter box is quite far from the food bowl). I have four litter boxes around my apartment and three cats. But this cat always always always pees in the same spot on the floor every day. He poops in the litter box, but he always pees in the same spot. I’ve tried putting a litter box in that spot but still, he’ll pee on the floor. I’ve scrubbed the floor countless times, used hydrogen peroxide, enzymatic cleaners but still it persists. Very occasionally when he ventures outside of the kitchen, he will pee elsewhere on the floor but usually it’s the same spot. The vet has said it’s behavioral but i don’t think that’s the reason, since it seems habitual.

I would appreciate any advice because i’m so tired of cleaning pee off the floor twice a day.

Help! My usually well behaved cat has started to pee outside of his litter box

I have an adult male cat (exact age unknown) who's lived with me for over 3 years and has started peeing outside the box and the frequency seems to have increased over time. I've been trying to narrow down the reason, but I'm running out of ideas about what's wrong and how I could help and eliminate the problem. I do want to clarify that I'm not asking for medical advice and we do plan to take him to the vet soon but I want to explore whether or not there's something in his behavior that's fixable that I've missed, especially if it's a simple blunder so that I can save transportation and vet costs.

Some things I've tried based on past issues:

He is picky about his litter and when I was new I bought scented cat litter which he at first tolerated and eventually started to hate and started peeing outside the box. This was easily fixed with unscented litter.

I was very sick once and didn't scoop his litter on time. Pee outside the box again. Fixed getting help by cleaning the box on time. Problem solved.

Now my problem is that he for whatever reason just doesn't want to pee in the box at all. His litter is unscented and the box is very clean as well. He only poops in the litter box. I noticed that he appears to hold his bladder just to avoid his box altogether and will pace around the house and yowl until he can't hold it in anymore and leave the biggest puddle known to man right on the tile floor. I thought it was the new furniture, so I asked my family members to slow down with all that they're buying but it hasn't helped at all.

I've resorted to closing the door to the room which has his litter box with him in it when I see him pacing around to pee outside again, and only then does he pee in the box. But I have noticed that in doing that, he'll hold his bladder and patiently wait for me to open the door so that he can pee somewhere outside the box!

What is going on??? Please help me!!

Possibly relevant health info: has good appetite, drinks enough water, a bit grumpy maybe because of the peeing issue (?), healthy stable weight

EDIT: for clarity

Why does my cat bite me very hard and won't stop when I pet him sometimes

Hi,

I have a 7 month old mainecoon who bites very hard unprompted and when pet will grab your arm and won't let go. I tend to advise any guests to not pet him as he has bitten guests in the past, when he does bite, I put him in a calm, quiet room for him to try and calm down. He doesn't growl or hiss, but he does bite very very hard, fortunately I am the only person he has managed to draw blood from his bites (I see a doctor to prevent infection). I have no idea why this behavioral thing has started and what to do. I play with him and I have a pet sitter whos only job is to play and snuggle him for 1 hour while I am at work. I have captured a video of this biting happening before I pet him, the petting can be anywhere even his head and this will happen. I try to make my arm limp to make it less attractive to bite but also to prevent him from biting harder as he will latch on with his paws and start kicking and biting if I pull my arm back and react. In the video he is also purring so i am pretty confused as to why he might do this and how to prevent it. This also happens when he is pushing himself into my hand to be pet and then i pet him and i get bit.

I got the video so I can replay what is going on, but it is so hard to read my cat as he is unpredictable. He is also neutered if that makes any difference.

Any ideas?

Adopted cat keeps peeing on me at night no matter where I sleep.

I adopted this cat, she’s a year and a half old and female. The first day she stayed in my room all day and never left under my bed.. the 2nd day she would roam around my room but not leave the room, but that night I wake up to pee all over me and my bed. I treated my bed and sheets immediately etc etc. 3rd night, I sleep on my couch because I’m letting my bed fully dry and she pee’s on me again, literally directly on me on my couch 😭 her liter box is in my living room, I realized the top being on it may be keeping her from using it, so I took it off and walked her into the liter box and she used it while I’m sitting beside it. Do we think this is a medical issue like a UTI or specifically comfort? This is the 2nd night I’ve had to get up between 2-4am and shower and completely rip off my sheets and wash them. She is such a sweet cat, but it’s day 3 and she hasn’t eaten or drank any water.

cat eating my rug

my cat ciggy is five years old, spayed and generally healthy.

today she decided to chew on my fuzzy rug. she frequently plays on it, which is fine, but this time she was pulling out bits to eat. she did this several times and attacked me whenever i tried to stop her (note that she very rarely bites.) i thought that she might have been bored, but she seemed uninterested in play.

she has also been acting strange lately. ive caught her licking my duvet and jumping up onto the fridge often.

i havent visited a vet, but it is an option. is this stress, boredom or another issue? any advice would be appreciated :')

Litter box behavior issues

(i want to preface this by saying that my cat has been to the vet several times, and has no
medical issues whatsoever. he’s had a clean bill of health every time he’s been to the vet) about two and a half years ago, i adopted at cat while at college, he’s now 3 yrs old. he’s orange, and we think he’s a maine coon and tabby mix. at home, i have three other cats, two siamese that are 6 yrs old, and a black cat that is 4 yrs old. my cat has some very interesting behaviors when it comes to using the litter box. he’s fully litter box trained, and when i’d have him at school and my apartment, where he’s the only cat, he always pees in the litter box, but he picks and chooses when he’ll poop in the litter box. there’s no one specific thing we can point to that would make sense for him to not poop in the litter box. if it were just when it’s dirty, that would make sense, but half the time i’ll clean it and he’ll poop on the floor, but then the next day he’ll poop in the litter box.

the current issue we’re having is him sharing the litter box. for context, he’s always come home with me, and thus to my three other cats, for summer and winter breaks, and he never had any issues with peeing in the litter box until the last time I brought him home and now. he is straight up refusing to pee in the litter box, and is instead peeing LITERALLY anywhere else (on the couch, on the floor, in a suitcase, you name it). i really don’t know what brought this on, because he’s shared the litter box before, and we also had another cat that was my roommate’s living with us last year, and this was not an issue. i don’t know what to do, it’s not really feasible for him to have his own litter box that the other cats don’t use unless i keep him locked away from them, and none of the cats would want that. again, he’s been to the vet multiple times and has no medical issues that we know of, this is fully behavioral, and tbh we think he’s just doing it to be a bitch.

also apparently he’ll poop outside of the litter box (mind you when he does this, he poops RIGHT NEXT TO IT), and then scratches at the litter so we think he’s using the litter box. it’s also not like he’s never pooped in the litter box, he has, many many times. i really just don’t know what to do, bc i love him to death but i can’t be cleaning up cat poop and pee every single day.

I Spooked my new cat and I am not sure how to proceed

Hey Ill try to keep this as brief as possible.

I am fostering a 1 year old male cat and this is only my second cat I have ever owned. My first cat was siamese and adapted really quickly. This guy, not so much. I brought him home and set up my spare room for him with food, water, liter box, new cat tree, tv and tv stand (not yet used) and a recliner.

He initially came out of the carrier and hid in the tv stand and we made good progress. But last night, he went under the recliner and didnt come out from last night to tonight, unless he did when I was sleeping. When I put my hand under there he would accept pets and even rubbed against my hand and purred. But he would not leave. I dont mind him not coming out, but im concerned because it seems like he hasnt ate much if at all or drank, and he has not used the litter box. I want to make sure he isnt hungry or thirsty. Also, the main reason I want to move the recliner is its got some sharp edges and wires (its an old lazyboy from probably before I was born) and I dont want him to hurt himself or get stuck under there.

This is where I think I may have screwed up. I got impatient and opted to move the recliner. He freaked out a bit and ran to the corner behind the tv stand. He is now huddled behind there and will not leave that position. I was able to pet him again and give him treats which he accepted, but he wont move from that spot and I am worried I may have halted progress. I put a basic kitchen chair near him with a sheet over it hoping that will give him a similar vibe to the recliner without as much risk.

Where should I go from here? Should I try to be near him so he will get used to me, should I leave him alone? Should I keep the door closed to this room or open? I just dont want to break his trust or have him fear me, but I also really just would feel better and less anxious if he ate, drank, pooped, or peed!

Help

So me and my gf have this kitten we recently got it’s about 2 weeks old (yes we know it’s too young we had to take it bc the mother was trying to kill it) and our other cat was trying to paw at it with its claws out. Neither of us know cat body language and ofc we know that it isn’t a good thing but we’d like to know why she did that if anyone has any idea as to what it could’ve meant for context the kitten was on my chest while I was sitting down and the cat was putting its front paws on the edge of the chair while meowing and eventually it attempted to paw at the kitten we think this is a big step from hissing at the sight of it but eventually it went back to that could it have been curiosity or was it something else

Companion cat for an old cat, good idea?

My landlady has an old female cat, not completely sure of age, but guessing around 15 years. This cat has passed through a couple of members of my landlady's family and has finally landed with my landlady since the past 4-5 years. My landlady used to have the most passive ever rescue dog too but it had to be put down this year.

This cat was fine to ignore the dog for the most part, is quite scared of new people but did warm up to me after several months. Now, my landlady wants to adopt another cat to keep the old cat company and wanted me to inquire about adoption at the cat rescue i volunteer at occasionally.

She wanted to adopt a kitten, but I suggested that she should try to foster a slightly older cat and see if the cats get along first.

Are there any more suggestions? What should I even be looking for at the cat shelter?

I don't want to rehome my cat but I don't know what else I can do

I'm truly desparate for any form of advice here. My cat, Momo, is a year and a half old, and I have had him ever since he was a few weeks old. He's been the sweetest little kitty, but after I got him neutered (around the time he was 6 months old), he's had this habit of peeing on soft items around the house. Blankets, napkins, and now his cat bed. Initially, it was a simple fix. Put the blankets away, keep anything soft and Momo pee-worthy out of sight, and it worked for some time. Then he moved on to the sofa and mattresses. Usually he pees and poops perfectly fine in his litter boxes (there are two in the house), but I'll wake one fine morning and discover he's peed on the sofa or his cat bed. I've gone through liters of enzyme cleaning solution at this point. I've tried multiple types of litter, tried cleaning the litter box twice a day, but no luck. The frequency is at least once a week. I've got him tested for UTIs multiple times and they've all come back negative. Things have gotten worse because recently he's started to attack my arm or leg out of nowhere. It could be right after I wake up, it when I'm just trying to make my way to the kitchen. It's not a little bite either. He always ends up drawing blood and these wounds end up being pretty painful. I thought maybe this meant he wanted to play, but after making sure he has three play sessions a day for a good amount of time, it didn't really make a difference. The vet has prescribed him gabapentin, but all that seems to do is make him drowsy. I've been trying for months to find a solution, I've been to multiple vets, and spent a lot of money getting tests done. I'm at a point where I'm about to move countries, and I know things are going to get much more expensive so I won't be able to keep up with all the vet bills. I was already paranoid about dealing with pee every time I wake up in the morning or leave the house, and now I'm scared of him hurting me. I've been going back and forth about rehoming him for months now, but I don't have much time left till I need to move. I love Momo with all my heart, and the last thing I want to do is rehome him. Please help.

I’m not familiar with cats…what does it want me to do?

I work in the house that has multiple cats. The gray cat really likes me to pet it, but I’m so confused. I know it likes me to pet between the years. It’s cheeks and under its chin. But then it does this really weird thing where he turns, his body sideways towards me and his butt towards me. What is he trying to tell me?

Never Returns my Slow Blink

So my cat is about 13 years. I've had him since approximately 9 months (he was a stray who followed me home while I was living in NC, and he kept coming back so I kept him and moved him with me to CO). I don't doubt - this cat loves me. He hasn't been allowed outside since before he tore his CCL, which has been about 2 years. He was also indoor only unless on our 2nd level patio while I lived in an apartment for a year.

None of that really matters though. I love this cat, and he loves me. I know because every time I come home, even if he's been fed, he always seeks me out. Since his dog sibling died (I adopted them around the same time), he's been even more loving and since her passing (the passing of my ride or die), he has stepped in and become my ride or die. If I'm home, 90% of the time he's by my side. If I'm sleeping, he's curled up to my feet until I change positions, and then he'll leave for 5-10 min before coming back to curl up with me again. He is super fractious if I take him to work for anything (I'm a vet tech, and he's almost bitten me twice at work while working on him), so we basically have to anesthetize him for anything we have to do because he has about a 1 min timer before he starts trying to hurt people working on him.

But the point is - this cat has never slow blinked me IN HIS LIFE. I've done it to him multiple times, and he just stares at me. Even if I'm giving him scritches and he's purring his ass off. I know slow blinks mean cats are safe and comfortable around you, but could a refusal for the slow blinks mean he feels dominate over me? Especially since he'll attack me at work if I'm working on him? It's not an issue, I know who my cat is, have for 12+ years, I'm just curious if anyone knows if a refusal for a slow blink is some sort of domination tactic given that he constantly gives me signs he loves and adores me? Or am I just overthinking everything?

Cat is beating up step brother

My step brother just got an older cat. Her name is Oreo. When he got her she was hissing at him and smacked him. In the car on the ride home she faced the other way in her carrier to avoid looking at him. Now that she’s in his house she’d rather look at the wall than him. She pisses all over his house and attacks him when he sleeps and when he gets home. Yesterday I guess she slapped him when he was asleep and was biting his ears, his hair, and stabbing him with her nails. She peed on him. What can he do to make her feel more at home?

Cat has begun peeing on my children's beds

House: 5 occupants, H, W, 3 children (nearly adults)

Cats: 2, 1 F 6YO, 1 M ~2 YO

Our male cat, Carmy, he begun to pee on the children's beds. It seems to coincide with them visiting friends who have other cats or dogs. Is that fact? Maybe not, but it's a pretty tight correlation. The 2 older kids were dogsitting and then each came home to a peed-on bed. My youngest had some friends over and experienced a pee event and there were friends over who had cats. Another pee event just occurred in the youngest's room after visiting a house with cats, again.

This is getting to be a lot.

The cat is healthy. He has been seen by a vet for other issues, but this definitely seems like behavioral peeing and not accidental peeing (he's not missing the catbox, he's not peeing on the floor). 100% of these pee events have been him peeing on people's beds.

Diffusers are pretty much garbage in my experience (we used them for months when we first got Carmy because Sophie was *not* a fan of him-only time has fixed that problem). That said, if someone said it would fix it, I might go back to them.

EDIT:

Extra info:

Neutered: yes

Litter box count: 2

Litter type: We use world's best

Scoop count(daily): At least once, but if someone drops a steamer, could be more than once per day.

Thoughts?

Newly rescued 3 y/o cat suddenly peeing/pooping on couch despite using litter box—looking for advice + reassurance

Hi all — looking for advice (and honestly reassurance because I’m a bit stressed).
We rescued a 3-year-old cat about 6 days ago. We live in a ~600–700 sq ft apartment, so when we brought him home we gave him access to the whole space right away. He seemed curious but overall comfortable. He’s extremely social/people-obsessed, very cuddly, playful, and not acting particularly stressed.
For the first few days, he was using the litter box normally.
Around day 4, we started noticing he had both pee and poop accidents on the couch, even though he was still also using the litter box. We deep cleaned the couch and added a water-resistant blanket over it, and we also switched out the litter.
Today (day 6), it happened again (pee on the couch) while we were home.
We’re now planning to restrict him to the bathroom only for a bit per rescue guidance to reset habits.
A few additional details:
He is neutered (recently, within the last few weeks)
He was found on the street but is extremely friendly, so they think he may have been surrendered
We took him to the vet yesterday for a shot and submitted a stool sample (no results yet)
He is still using the litter box in between accidents
We love him a lot already and don’t feel like he’s “acting stressed,” but obviously something is going on and we want to fix it early.
Looking for:
Any advice on how to break this couch habit
Tips for fully removing urine smell from a couch (we’re worried it’s lingering)
Whether this is more likely behavioral vs medical vs adjustment
Any similar experiences (honestly would help me feel less alone right now)
I’m a bit shocked because I always assumed cats instinctively stick to the litter box, but clearly something is off here.
Thanks in advance 💛

Cat wants to go outside

I recently graduated college and moved into and RV to be able to save up some money to into an apartment. We’ve lived in here for two months now. My cat has been doing great up until now. She recently has decided that she really wants to go outside. This has never been an issue before, in fact she used to hide away from the windows when something loud happened. I have a catio and have let her use it during the day when it’s not too hot and I’ll let her spend an hour or two out in it at night when it cools down. The problem is when she’s not outside all she does is yowl and try to open the door. She’s been able to open similar doors before and I’m scared she close to figuring this one out. She has a ton of toys in the RV and I’m in here with her for a lot of time during the day playing with her. I’m not sure what to do. She yowls when she isn’t outside, scratches at all of my windows trying to get out and even climbs the screen door. I’m at a loss for how to make her more comfortable inside.
