I regret getting my cat and I don't like him. What do I do

This sucks, mostly for him and I feel terrible. He was originally my friends cat but she was unable to keep him, to prevent him returning to the shelter I took him in. He is aggressive, he often goes extremely deep with his claws and teeth, last night he went for my face and neck. I play with him all the time and am currently harness training him so he can go outside. He will be cuddly and calm and then out of no where attack me, I have booked him in for a behavioural vet consult.

In addition to his issues, unlike any other pet I have had, I just don't like him... I have not built a connection with him and I don't know why. I do not like him at all and it feels so unfair on him. I want to rehome him but I am so worried that he will be mistreated or put down for his behaviour, and I feel so sad and scared at the thought of giving him away even though Ive only had him for 6 months

Very vocal senior cat not letting either of us sleep

My cat Smokey, 10y/o long hair grey cat, has always been very vocal, and we’ve occasionally had adjustment periods during which he doesn’t seem to want to sleep and will just meow all night. I’ve tried increasing playtime, variety, toys, change in diet, etc. But he seems to just need a few days to settle in.
Recently, I think I’ve hit a bit of a wall. Our living situation has changed drastically over the last year- I’ve gone from living with a partner in a fairly large apartment with Smokey and two large dogs, to just the two of us in a house with 7 other people and a few other cats, who are restricted by house rules to their owners’ rooms for the most part.
I have fielded a few complaints about Smokey from my roommates about his meowing, and the only thing that seems to help is spending more time with him at home when I’m not at work; I suspect he’s lonely and bored. I work 9-5 Monday-Friday and used to have a very active social life but have cut back to spend more time with him.
The last few weeks have also been tumultuous- we moved to a bigger bedroom in the same house next-door to the one we were in, the last occupant moved out and we don’t have a new roommate in my old room yet, and a new roommate moved in downstairs who has a cat, which I’m sure he can smell. We also just started a Gabapentin prescription intended to help with his separation anxiety. This doesn’t seem to help with the nighttime meowing unless I use a good deal of it, which is not a solution I prefer.
During the times I’m home I let him wander around the floor we’re on since it’s just us till I find a roommate to fill my old room. But he won’t be allowed to do that with a new person so I’m trying to get him used to staying in our bedroom at night. He is loudly unhappy about being limited to the bedroom. If I let him out into the hallway he almost always eventually gets bored and starts meowing at the door to the rest of the house, which gets us in trouble with my roommates.
He just meows at the door almost all night. Sometimes he will sleep a few hours first if I give him Gabapentin but he’s at it again by 3 or 4am. I am starting to feel the effects of sleep deprivation. I can’t afford to take time off work to deal with this; I don’t have PTO like that.
So what’s the solution? Do I suck it up and try better earplugs? Consider getting another cat (very risky for me financially right now)? Get a different prescription? Rehoming (I think this would be devastating, but I want what’s best for him)? Help!!

Will my 2yo cat ever bond with our new kitten he is asserting aggressive dominance over?

We have a 2 yo very social and smart boy cat. We recently adopted a 5 mo boy kitten to be a companion for our existing cat so he isn’t so (seemingly) sad when we’re at work and what not (we also play with him a ton and provide lots of enrichment).

We tried slowly reintroducing them, scent swapping while kitten was confined in a separate room, etc, and did a couple of meetings through a screen door that seemed to go well. As soon as we did an in person meet, our 2 yo seemed very anxious and was throat biting the kitten (for dominance, I assume). We quickly separated them and started the introducing process over again. The same thing has happened three times and our 2 yo is increasingly stressed with the kitten in the house - he’s now vomiting, not playing, etc.

I’m just wondering if this will ever get better? Even when the kitten is bigger and can defend himself, will our older cat ever bond with the kitten if he is being this aggressive now? The whole point in getting a kitten was to provide him a companion, and we are wondering if we need to re-home the kitten so they can both have a better living environment.

I know cats are tricky and bringing new ones in a home can be hit or miss, I just want to make sure we’re assessing their behaviors and acting accordingly.

TIA for any advice.

Cat peeing on bed for no reason

My cat, female, spayed, nearly a year old, has peed on my bed/mattress for nearly 4 days straight. Sure we had a few accidents in the past but they were never as frequent as this. Her litterbox is completely clean and she has free range of the whole house but chooses to piss on 3 pillows, then the mattress. She noticed I’d get mad and swat her if she began to dig or squat on the mattress, so just now she pretended to loaf on it and piss so I wouldn’t get mad. I cannot send her outside, what do I do? She has a sister who has never peed on anything.

Cat keeps peeing on husband’s clothes

I (33, US) had my male cat, Moses (10 years) for a little 9 years now. I adopted him and he has been a great cat overall with little to no behavioral issues. Never marked, never clawed things, didn’t get into stuff he shouldn’t, etc. 4 years after adopting him I met my now husband and whenever he came over, Moses would run out tail straight up and demand to be held by him. So they’ve always gotten along. About 2 years ago he got diagnosed with diabetes. He’s on medication and it has been manageable and he has lost some weight!

All that to say, last December we welcomed a baby into our family. And honestly the baby has been great and not fussy at all. So not much, other than a new being in the house, has changed for Moses. The last few months, Moses has started peeing on my husband’s clothes that he lays out on the floor beside our bed. Randomly. At first I thought it was related to his diabetes and he was just panicking trying to find somewhere close by to pee(even though his cat box is literally right across the hall from our room). Vet has said it’s not that. His diabetes is totally within the normal range. I have cleaned the carpet multiple times with a little green machine, but he still keeps peeing on his clothes. And just to add to it, my dirty clothes are on my side of the bed and he never pees on those. Just my husband’s. Idk how to get him to stop? Or what even is causing this? I’m going to buy my husband a rack to put his clothes on instead of the floor (he lays them out so they don’t wrinkle for the next day), but it’s concerning to me that this behavior started up out of nowhere.

Rescue cat needing constant attention and started biting me hard suddenly during affection

Hi, I have no idea how to start this. I’m writing from Midwest, I rescued a very neglected cat (Goliath) Sunday from this lady who was a hoarder with lots of pets, and kept him in a garage a lot of the time. He is 2yrs old, no neuter or shots. He was so filthy and smelt so bad, When I brought him home I bathed him and ended up giving him a flea treatment. Unfortunately he was getting eaten alive by them, they were EVERYWHERE on him, and when we gave the treatment, fleas were dying on him all night (including at the vet.) after his bath I was checking his nails out, and realized his nail from his extra thumb (on both paws) was extremely ingrown and infected. It had grew to where it reentered and punctured his skin. It had discharge and a bad smell. I called and ER vet and they advised I bring him in the same night I got him. He did really good, his ingrowns were cut and he’s been on antibiotics since Sunday night. He came home and had way more energy, was very affectionate, eating and pooping well, and overall good. My concern is the biting suddenly. When I move my arm while petting him he has bitten very hard (3 times now). It’ll break skin deep and it’ll turn purple right away. I’ve had to neosporin and bandage my arm each time. And I can’t tell when it’s coming, I have 2 other cats and I know a love bite or bite from overstimulation shouldn’t be that hard. After the bite he’ll go right back to being affectionate. He’ll cry if I leave the room, follow me everywhere, and I’m worried how he’ll act when I return to work tomorrow. My other cat had behavioral/social issues with us but not like this. He’s on antibiotics for 3 more days and the 2 vets I’ve spoken to suggest waiting for his shots until after he’s done fighting the infection. But I plan to get him neutered the same day or week if possible. I love him a lot but I just never faced this problem before and the bites will be pretty bad. It’s random when he does it. I try to limit how much attention I give him but even a few minutes ago, i tried to walk away and he bit at me (but missed) and I saw how hard he chomped down. I don’t know what fully happened at his past home but I’m not sure how to help this.

TLDR: 2yr old male rescue cat had very questionable conditions in past home and faced neglect. Is very clingy and randomly bites hard when he’s showing me affection. Seen ER vet for paw infection, getting shots/neuter after finishing antibiotics. Not sure what to do.

Being adopted by an outdoor cat, feeling guilty

I’m not sure if this is the correct flair, just looking for some general advice, sorry for the long post.

I have lived in a flat for 3 years with my sister. Since the day we moved in, the cat from upstairs has treated my front courtyard as a second home (it’s not gated) and sleeps on my chair on a daily basis. It’s gotten to the point where if we didn’t see him for 24 hours we would be seriously concerned.

For 1.5 of those years I had a dearly loved elderly cat who passed away. They saw each other through the security door occasionally and weren’t going to get along, but when he wasn’t sleeping on the chair outside this cat would be sitting at my front door waiting for me to let him in which I couldn’t - until I didn’t have a cat anymore.

Fast forward to now - the door is usually left ajar for him, but there’s a bell on it that he rings to be let in. If he doesn’t ring the bell, he meows and scratches and shakes the metal door until we open it, sometimes 10+ times a day. He spends at least a few hours cumulatively at our house every night, and sometimes sleeps beside me on the couch or at the end of my bed for an hour at a time. We do feed him here and there but not too much because he started getting fat. He has also gotten territorial when I have pet sit (tried to take on a large staffy) and gets in fights with other cats a lot so I grab him and lock him in my place until things cool down.

The owner knows we hang out with her cat and we are moving out in a few days. I told her and offered to take her cat if she ever moved away or couldn’t take care of him for some reason. She told me she was thinking of moving to Adelaide (I’m in Sydney) with a friend and wouldn’t be able to take him, and she seemed a bit insistent on us taking him so I said I’d drop past and we would have a chat before I go.

The cat is a ridiculous looking but incredibly handsome Selkirk Rex, he is very friendly and often demands pats, lots of submissive rolling, purrs on sight and we have developed a close bond. He meows at my bedroom door sometimes when I am not home. He loves playing with bottle caps and small things on the ground inside and outside. When I approach him on his chair when I get home he meows at me and shows me his belly. I think he is around 10 years old.

He is also a bit feral at heart - very territorial, he swats/scratches/hisses when pet the wrong way which is not often anymore now that we know how he likes it, HATES being held but doesn’t scratch or resist initially, dislikes being inside involuntarily, and doesn’t like laps or climbing over people.

He is pretty independent and spends loads of time outside, under cars, and in the rainwater drains. He loves the sun and isn’t afraid of the rain either. I’m very worried that if I take him he will enter a deep depression due to the drastic lifestyle change. I’m moving to a 90sqm apartment with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows, but not much of a view and limited direct sunlight. I would obviously purchase a million toys and scratch boards and sensory things and he’s hilarious to play with so no problems there.

I’m also conscious that the alternative is him either being left alone/surrendered and potentially not adopted because he is older, kinda weird (I love him) and respectfully funny looking. I feel like I understand him, care for him deeply and also I feel a long life indoors is better than a short one outdoors.

Any advice welcome, photos will be left in the comments.

Thank you!

I think most smart pet devices solve fake problems...

Sometimes I feel like pet tech is built around what sounds cool in a pitch deck, not what pet owners actually need.

I don’t need tons of stats about my cat. Plz let me know only for emergencies...

The feature I want most is to stop my cat from eating random stuff. Is there anything that can keep it from doing this when I’m not home?

Who can make it...

3 weeks into resident-kitten introduction. is this looking promising?

I made a post about this last week but got no replies so trying again and keeping shorter in the hope someone can give me some much needed perspective.

Lenticchio (6M resident cat) previously had a very bad relationship breakdown with his littermate after a redirected aggression incident, which ultimately, despite trying everything for almost 2 years, led to rehoming his brother. This took a huge toll on me and I’m scared of repeating that situation.

We’ve been introducing Chiqui (5-month female) very slowly for about 3 weeks: separation, then scent/room swapping and now visual contact through a secured baby gate. There has been some progress: Lenticchio voluntarily comes to watch her, he can watch her play from a few metres away without reacting. They can eat treats while looking at each other, with both disengaging from each other to eat. Chiqui will come right up to the gate and lie down/purr and we even had an almost nose-to-nose moment.

Proximity remains a big issue though. When Chiqui comes right up to the gate, Lenticchio will usually hiss, sometimes growl/yowl, and today he swatted at her through the barrier a few times. He’s not charging the gate and he can often be redirected, though today he was more difficult to redirect than usual. Chiqui seems mostly unfazed and remains curious/relaxed rather than scared.
Mostly I’m trying to figure out if this looks promising, or if the fact that he’s still this reactive at close range after 3 weeks is a red flag. I’ve read it can take months, but I need to understand if there’s real potential here as I don’t want to get even more attached to Chiqui only to let her go too. We also live in a 60sqm apartment so eventually they need to be able to share space peacefully. Keeping them fully separated is starting to take a toll on our mental health (we did that for almost 2 years and it was rough). We’re not expecting them to cuddle, but peaceful coexistence would be great.

I’ll leave a video from today’s session in the comments. Chiqui is the fluffy one lying down; Lenticchio is watching her from the other side of the gate. I’d especially appreciate any opinions, honest feedback or words of encouragement.

We only got another cat because Lenticchio had seemed increasingly in need of more stimulation despite us being home and playing with him a lot. he had started meowing and roaming around the house a lot. So this wasn’t an impulsive decision or an attempt to replace his brother, and we really want to make sure this works for everyone.

Advice for a lazy cat

So my cat, while she goes crazy at night, has gotten into the habit of being lazy even when she play hunts. She gets MEAN right before dinner. To burn extra energy and make dinner a chase reward I’ve started opening the can and then running away from her, then lifting it to her cat tree and back down a few times. She mews of course and her tail gets poffy. Then she eats. She hasn’t swated at me or anything. Is this bad for her? Or abuse?

How to stop neighbour’s cat from coming into my house / garden and scaring my cat ?

Okay, I could really use some advice. FYI we rent.

Our cat is mostly an indoor cat, but he has access to our small back garden (about 2m x 2m). It’s fully enclosed with brick walls, and we installed a slanted cat fence on the back gate/door which is the only wooden part and the only place he had ever tried to climb. Since we put that up, he has never attempted to escape.

I work from home and we also have a camera facing the garden, so I’m able to keep an eye on him whenever he’s out there to make sure he's safe.

This setup has been really good for him. Because we rent, we can’t build a proper catio or make major changes, but this little outdoor space gives him somewhere to sunbathe, watch bugs, sniff around, and get some stimulation. Since we started letting him use it, he seems much happier and less restless. He has almost completely stopped over-grooming and has started eating his wet food much better.

The problem is our neighbour’s cat. He is unneutered and free-roaming. At first he would just sit outside our window and bang/scratch at it, which stressed our cat out, but we would shoo him away and that seemed to reduce it for a while.

In the last two days, he has started coming into our house. We think he has figured out where we keep our cat’s wet food. It has happened twice now (yesterday and today). When he comes in, he hisses at our cat, intimidates him, and tries to eat his food. After we chase the other cat out, our own cat seems so stressed that he redirects his aggression toward us by hissing, which is very unlike him. He usually calms down again within a minute or so, but we can see that this situation is really stressing him out.

Today was the worst incident so far because the neighbour’s cat scratched our cat before my partner ran downstairs to get him out. We’ve also seen that cat outside before with chunks of fur missing, so he clearly gets into fights with other cats and can be quite territorial. ( oh, that cat also bit my finger once when i was trying to chase him off our fence)

For now we’ve stopped letting our cat into the garden, which is really annoying as he loves getting to go outside :( I don’t want to punish him for the other cat’s behaviour, but I’m also worried that this could escalate into a more serious injury or long-term stress for our cat

Because we rent, we can’t really install a microchip cat flap. The ideas we’ve come up with so far are:

\- Only letting him into the garden when one of us is outside, which would mean he gets far less access than he does now and I would rather not do

\- Installing a magnetic mesh/screen door, although I’m not sure whether that would actually stop that cat from getting through, but I am definitely getting one anyway

Has anyone dealt with something similar? I'd really appreciate any advice, but I would rather not make him a completly indoor cat, especially since he's so good about not leaving our back garden

Kitten won’t stop licking

I’m a new cat owner, I still am learning a lot of behaviours - but my sweet little kitten is OBSESSED with licking me.

When I pet him, he licks my hands. When we are settling down at night, he licks my face.

I wake up in the middle of the night to him pawing my face and licking my face.

It’s really cute (it eventually starts to hurt if he does the same place over and over again) but I guess I want to understand why?

It’s mostly me, he gives licks to my partner but he doesn’t go to him in bed, or wake him at night with it or sit directly in his face to give licks.

Cat suddenly aggressive?

We have a three year old cat and she never agressive unless we are at the vet or around new people and that just includes hissing. When watching a video my sister was imitating a very annoying dog noise and when she got up my cat chased her, scratched her, and growled at her.

We stayed in our room out of shock and outside of the door she was just howling a growling very loudly. I decided to open the door for her while my sister hid in the closet and she came and sniffed me, she was fine for 2 minutes then she started hissing again.

When my mom came home she was fine with her. She let my mom pet her and then followed her to the room. At lease 10 minutes later she was hissing and yelling again. When my mom tried to move it was just followed up by more hissing. At this time I was in the bathroom, my mom was in her room with the cat, and my sister was in our room. Luna(our cat) was just standing at my sister’s room meowing and any time anyone moved she would hiss. We now finally have her in the washroom but I really don’t know what to do or how to move about this. Pls help🙏🙏

UDATE: so basically we left her alone for the night and she was fine in the morning. She let us pet her and she even went on my sister’s bed, she then freaked out again on my sister and scratched her hand up really bad. Idk what to do anymore. She’s in our room now and she’s just meowing a lot. When my mom tried to put her food and water in the room she stated hissing and scratching again. We’re trying to give her space and we want to take her to the vet but she just won’t let anyone get close to her anymore

Help with Cat Introduction - Wanting to be in the Same Spaces

My husband and I live in Guatemala and we adopted a stray mom, Sabrina, about 3 months ago. Her kittens have been adopted already and she's been adjusting to indoor life, little by little. She's a little skittish, but she does like to eat, play and to be pet. Although we don't know exactly how old she is, the vet calculated about a year and half.

Our resident cat, Olivia, has been with us for about 2 years. And she's about 3 years old too and was also rescued while pregnant. She came when we still had our first cat, but he passed about a year and half ago.

So we've been doing a slow introduction - doing our best to follow the main steps. We've been at it for about two months. The first month was a little irregular because Sabrina was spayed and they didn't have a lot of contact for 2 weeks. Overall, the process had been going well.

  • They have been eating well twice a day, with a baby gate between them. They can see each other through the baby gate and there hasn't been hissing for over a month.
  • We started short play sessions about 2 weeks ago (maybe more), where they play each on one side of our living room area without a gate. My husband sits between them. Sabrina (new cat) hasn't played much, but she will eat Churus and treats. Olivia (resident cat) will play and eat fully - has been very relaxed. These sessions last about 10 minutes.
  • On Sunday and today, they accidentally got into the same space with no toys or treats: the stairs and our bedroom. Sabrina chased and swatted at Olivia and Olivia hissed both times. Body language was very alert and not relaxed.
  • We have been keeping them separate at all times besides eating and these short play sessions, but they want to be in the space the other is in when they are separate. Not necessarily together, but when one is in the bedroom the other wants to go in.
  • Main issue: Sabrina chasing and swatting at Olivia. How to proceed where we are at? Any tips that have worked for you? We have watched a bunch of videos and have been following them (we think).

TLDR: New cat chasing and swatting at resident cat during two accidental meetings. About 2 months of slow introductions with feeding through baby gate and two weeks of 10 minute play sessions with no gate. How to proceed cat introduction? Advice that has worked for you.

Ex-Stray kitten terrified of soft surfaces and blankets

Hiya,

I very recently took in a stray kitten from the streets, (according for vets roughly 7 weeks old). She is settling in amazingly despite a lot of initial nerves, and tends to like hiding alot. I first noticed when we set up a play pen for her, we places a blanket inside that she absolutely refused to touch or sit on top of. I assumed it was just nerves, but now as she's starting to leave the pen and explore more, she still refuses. if I place a blanket in a spot she frequents she gives up on it entirely. when exploring she walked by a small rug, and when she realised it was there, jumped and stepped very widely over it to avoid it as much as possible. if she gets placed on a sofa or a bed, she will either attempt to leave or show signs of stress. if blankets or pillows are on the floor she will jump over them in a panicked way as if she is afraid.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing it? I initially assumed she didnt like blankets as when I first managed to capture her on the street it was due to the fact that she laid inside of a crate with a blanket inside which I then trapped her in to bring her inside. But I have attempted to show her pillows, chairs, rugs, all kinds of textures and smells, but if the floor isn't hard she will not have it at all. is it just a street cat thing about her taste in hard floor?

For context as well she has been to a vets, and other than being underweight we were told she was perfectly healthy.

What should I do about my cat peeing in front of my door every day?

Hello everyone, I hope this isn’t violating any community rules, mods please let me know if it is! This is NOT a medical advice question and I do establish that he has seen the vet.

Now firstly, some backstory. Perhaps it will make sense in just a bit. I grew up lower very lower class, we had a cat and she was the sweetest, but she continuously got pregnant and my parents never did anything to correct this. At one point I think there was 15\~20 cats in my house, I was a child and there wasn’t much I could do about it, but obviously as many of you will know this is not good at the f-ck all. Because of this I say that I have anxiety from cats? Trauma? I don’t know but for example a cat being under my bed drives me insane. I know they’re just curious but in the back of my mind I can only ever think that it’s about to use the bathroom under there.

3 years ago I moved out (4bed house) I got a roommates and one of them had 2 cats, I love them both deeply btw! But I did not allow them in my room, or when I did it was only ever under supervision. They were free to roam the house and all other rooms of course, just not mine. I am a private person in general so I never leave my bedroom door open. This same year my roommate ended up getting another kitten which we all us roommates agreed was okay, she’s also very very sweet! Shortly after this, our lease was up. My roommate and I moved into an even bigger house, and obviously all 3 of the cats came with us. Eventually, my roommates partners friends cat had kittens as was rehoming them. I don’t want to say they peer pressured me, but I did end up taking one of the kittens (first boy cat). He was old enough to leave his mom, but still a little tot. He is actually what this post is about!

4 cats in one house is a lot, at least to me it is, but we have a large house, it is very spacious and they can all run around and play. We introduced our cats correctly, and they all love each other, they play, clean, sleep together etc. My roommates 3rd cat and my cat are very bonded as hers is only a few months older so they enjoyed playing with each other the most as the first 2 cats are bonded. Before I got my cat fixed, he did get my roommates 3rd cat pregnant (of course we rehomed all the kittens, I got him fixed immediately after this) Maybe half of this information isn’t even relevant but in my head it is so work with me.

My cat knows I am his dad, I raised him, he is my son, I am his favorite person and it is evident . He loves me, and I do love him. When I first brought him home he only stayed in my room, but he’s a cat and he’s curious so eventually he joined the rest and free roamed the house, I did still let him back into my room, he would sleep with me, wake me up when he wanted to leave my room etc. But eventually he liked to be with my roommates cats more, and he would sleep in the cat tree or on the couch or whatever. (if I fits i sits yk?)

We moved again, and of course took all 4 of the babies with us. My lease at this house is almost up, so we’ve been here about a year now. My boy is 2, will be 3 next summer.

Now, finally here is my problem. Recently (past month and a half) my cat has been urinating in front of my bedroom door every day multiple times a day, initially I thought this was a heath concern so I brought him to the vet but he is as healthy as can be.Thankfully i have one of those vinyl mats under my door that prevents cats from tearing up the edge of carpets, so it does not get on my actual carpet and just sits on the mat thing. But I am beyond tired of cleaning this up. And this is what I need advice about.

I work 50 hours a week plus. It is hard to manage my personal / work life. But I always have time for my boy to play and cuddle when I am home. As previously mentioned I keep my door closed to keep the cats out from my space, but I will allow them in under moderation frequently.

Today, I got home, and of course he peed in front of my door while I was away, it was a lot and it actually pooled over the vinyl mat this time and is now on the carpet. I’ve genuinely had enough and it upset me to the point where I feel like I need to rehome him now.

I know for some, the thought of giving away your baby is something that would never cross your mind, so I don’t know maybe this is all just a reflection of me.

I love him, but genuinely, am I just an unfit pet owner?
Is it wrong to keep my door closed while I’m away?
Why is he peeing in front of my door?

Is it territorial? If so, why would he just now start doing this over 2 years later? All 4 cats still get along and they are bonded at least through my perspective. There has been no new pet additions.

Their litter boxes are always clean, we have 6 of them that get scooped daily, and changed regularly.

How can I make him stop? Can you train cats to not pee in specific places? They’re different than dogs in that sense, no?

I don’t know. I hope there isn’t too much judgment, or some understanding from my frustration and situation

I just don’t know what to do.

Why is my devil-hunting me?

Our male cat is a sweet and loving guy by day. But sometimes at night, he will turn into a little devil: his ears will turn back, his pupils will be completely dilated, he will lunge at me, stalk me, and try to bite me, especially as I am walking away. Sometimes if I pick him up and love on him or I distract him by tossing one of his toys, that chills him out of his devil mode. He only does it with me too, not my partner. I don’t know if I’m doing something that is causing this or maybe he just needs to be a wild guy but it’s a little unnerving sometimes.

Has anyone else had their cat do this to them? Any idea why he’s doing this and what I should be doing when it happens? Do I just have a feral guy who needs to hunt me? Lol.

Cats suddenly won't use fountain all

I have two cats and two Petlibro fountains. Previously they used them all the time and then suddenly they stopped. I've cleaned them regularly and keep them filled. They literally won't go near the fountains after about a year of using them all the time. What gives??

New cat Not Eating

I adopted a 3-year-old male cat two days ago from a friend. Before I picked him up, he ate normally that morning and also pooped. Since coming to our apartment, though, he hasn’t eaten a proper meal or really drank any water that I’ve seen.
The only thing he has eaten was one full Churu tube on the first day. I offered another one yesterday and he sniffed it and walked away. I’ve tried different foods, treats, fresh water, giving him privacy, putting food near where he feels comfortable, etc., but so far he still isn’t interested.
What confuses me is that otherwise he seems to be adjusting pretty well. He was hiding in my closet at first, but now he comes out, explores, sleeps on our bed and is SUPER cuddly and affectionate with both me and my partner. He doesn’t seem scared of us at all. I believe he has used the litter box since arriving, but I’m keeping a much closer eye on it now so I can confirm whether he’s peeing.
He has also had quite a stressful couple of weeks. Before coming to us, he was given to another home for about a week and then came back to his previous owner, and shortly afterward he moved again to our home. So he has basically had multiple changes of environment in a very short period of time. I’m wondering if all of that stress could be affecting his appetite even though he’s already becoming comfortable with us.
I called a vet today and explained the situation. They told me that it can take cats a couple of days to adjust to a new home, but I’m still worried because he hasn’t eaten a real meal and I haven’t seen him drink. I will contact the vet again/get him seen if this continues or if anything about his condition changes.
Has anyone had a newly adopted/re-homed cat do this? How long did it take before they started eating and drinking normally? Was there anything in particular that finally encouraged them to eat?
I just want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to help him settle in and that I’m not missing something important.

Bfs cat is making me highly uncomfortable

Hey quick question is it weird for a cat to immediately get on someone and start making "biscuits" in the private area and not be redirected or am I just seeing it's weird because I've never had a cat. My bf claims he loves his cat but I'm the one that feeds her, im the one that'll go BUY her food and litter he hasn't done any of that the whole time we've been together so I think it's weird how he "loves" his cat so very much but all you do is let her knead on his private area. Am I wrong for thinking my boyfriend is weird for WAKING up in the middle of the night just to get his cat from the living room and then he lets her knead on his private area?
