Is this better for social anxiety than Prozac?

I was on lexapro 20 mg and the quality of life changed for the better, I made friends, I was able to hold convos, wouldn’t avoid social situations, and held eye contact with anyone. Until I started having a hard time with sleep and my medical provider suggested I try Prozac. I was hesitant but gave it a try. It’s been 7 weeks and this medication is great for obsessive thought and rumination but I’m back to square one when it comes to being socially anxious.. this sucks, I might give Zoloft a try first before going back to Lexapro. Did it help any of you with your social anxiety? Any suggestions? (I know these meds affect everyone differently, just curious)

Did you see social anxiety benefits?

I’m starting to think this isn’t a good social anxiety - GAD med for me... or am I being impatient?? I will say it is better than Lexapro for obsessive thoughts, limerance, and overall rumination. My provider suggested I switch over from lexapro since I was struggling to sleep from waking up a few times a night to pee plus a tad sluggish when I increased to 20 mg. But now I’m regretting my decision, maybe I should’ve lowered the dose. The quality of my life improved so much on lexapro, I was able to talk to anyone, wasn’t in fight or flight mode with new interactions and now I’m back to square one.. feeling hypervigilant at my gym, avoiding social interactions etc etc. it’s been a month on 20 mg and two weeks on 40 mg. Any advice or suggestion I will take, am I being impatient or should I give Zoloft a try next?

I recently switched from 20 mg Lexapro to 20 mg Prozac because Lexapro started giving me insomnia after a dose increase. Lexapro had actually been working really well for my anxiety and CPTSD around men. I felt more like myself, could hold conversations easily, don’t feel like everyone’s watching me (if they were I could care less) and didn’t overthink everything or feel awkward all the time.

I was hesitant to switch because of how well it was working, but I decided to try Prozac.

I’m currently on week 4 of Prozac. So far I’ve noticed I ruminate less and I feel a bit less emotionally stuck or attached to situations and people. That part has been helpful.

What I’m still unsure about is social anxiety. Lexapro helped me a lot with that, so I’m hoping Prozac will do something similar over time. I know everyone reacts differently and that Prozac can take longer to fully work, so I’m trying not to judge it too early.

I guess I’m just wondering if anyone has experience with Prozac helping social anxiety specifically, and if week 4 is still early in terms of seeing that effect.
