How cooked am I?
I finally was able to get in for a urinalysis and physical about a month after my interview for a non custody GS6 position. I filled out the stuff online for my public trust at the end of last week and sent it over the weekend. After my medical stuff this morning, I went to HR to return my paperwork and my HR specialist pulled me inside to talk about it as she had it printed out in front of her. She mentioned having to write long statements for explanations of why I was terminated from two places (one was illness related and one was from some past issues regarding attendance during a family hardship). She then mentioned that somewhere in the report I marked that I had not been terminated in the past 5 years. This was a mistake on my part, I overlooked it. I also didn’t disclose the disciplinary actions of termination in my in-person interview, which was also a mistake. These jobs were so long ago for me and so minuscule that I completely forgot about them until I was filling out the paper and spent 10 minutes writing out every job/supervisor before I filled it out digitally so I’d be prepared.
I was told to write statements and gather documentation. It would be sent off to the Regional Director and the warden to see if they want to approve it. I’m absolutely terrified. I’ve been very much looking forward to this position and it’s been a relief because I’ve had a hell of a time finding a new job since I left my last job in December. All of this was a complete accident and mistake and I’m worried that I’ve wasted all this time and effort.
