We’ve recently been victims of a serious scam involving over £11,000 taken from our Revolut account, and honestly, we’ve never experienced such poor handling from a bank or business. this money was everything we had, we were saving for our wedding.
We were pressured and threatened for our life into handing over access to our cards during a highly distressing situation where we genuinely feared for our safety. Despite this, large transactions were made from our account with no effective fraud prevention alerts, no push notifications, and no meaningful intervention from Revolut. This included transactions at Apple and Selfridges each for amounts over £2k. Not once were we asked to authorise suspicious transactions or questioned suspicious activity.
What’s been even more upsetting is the aftermath. We submitted a police report, a crime reference number, and requested a chargeback immediately. Instead of support, we received a very cold, automated response from Revolut stating that the loss was due to “negligence” on our part, effectively refusing to take responsibility or properly investigate the situation.
It feels like there is no real human review or protection in place for cases like this, even when there is clear evidence of coercion and fraud involved.
We’re sharing this as a warning to others to be extremely cautious. In our experience, the level of support and fraud protection we expected from a financial institution simply wasn’t there. Choosing an honest and fair bank, that will care about you and be able to protect you. most importantly, choose financial organisation that treats you as humans.
