Dad lost his job
My dad (54) lost his job today that’s he’s been working at for 18 years. My mom works but not enough to support them. I am 24 and on my own financially but I am aware of their finances and they are in major cc/loan debt. My mom is very worried as my dad had a high paying job.
My dad has no college degree and works in a somewhat niche industry. We live in a small town with only min wage jobs so he traveled 45 mins to work daily though on the bright side he dreaded the drive and the job so.
Just feeling anxious for them I have suggested seeing a financial advisor but my mom says “we have money” when really it’s borrowed money from a loan but don’t want to upset her. My dad feels the same about the financial situation as me and is open to an advisor but my mom doesn’t (she’s the one who handles finances too..). sigh. I just needed to vent.
