Cinematography

Curious to know everyone’s opinion on this. Does The Wire look timeless in the way it was shot? Or does it look dated in its cinematography?

The Silence of The Lambs (1991)

I just recently bought the novel for this movie. Excited to read the novel and see what’s up. But I first watched this in 2021 and it’s been one of my favorite horror films since. I think it’s great from start to finish. Hannibal Lecter’s final line at the end is definitely one of the parts that stick with me.

Buffalo Bill was terrifying in his own right but Hannibal Lecter brings the real horror for me simply because of how smart and calculated he is. I’m sure I’m not alone with my feelings on these characters.

How does everybody else feel about this classic here?

Orphan (2009)

This movie was already horrific to me when I was younger. But it’s even more terrifying to me now. The concept of an adult posing as a child to get into your family because they’re trying to get with you as the father? That’s just beyond insane. This is one of my favorite horror films ever. I love how it was executed and wish it was a little longer or if it was a book. I’m nervous to watch Orphan: First Kill to be honest.

As far as the father character, John? I’m not saying he deserved to die but he deserved to die. He was ignoring too many red flags from Esther or Leena I should say.

What’s everybody else’s thoughts on this movie?

Omar and WeeBey

When Omar and WeeBey shoot at each other in Episode 8 of Season 1, I wonder if Omar meant to hit him in the leg or if he was trying to kill WeeBey but was satisfied with the leg shot and decided not to finish WeeBey off?

Michael and Marlo

Can anyone see Michael possibly going after Marlo after Season 5 ends? I mean, after all, Marlo tried getting Snoop to kill him.

Season 4

In my opinion, there’s so many scenes in this season that lowkey look like something out of a horror film. For example, when Lex literally watched Fruit and Patrice for who knows how long before killing Fruit. All the vacant scenes with Chris and Snoop, and etc.

The vacant scene with Chris and Snoop and the random rival in Episode 1 of Season 4 might be the most disturbing vacant scene to me also. “Don’t fret boss, I got you covered” was an insane line.

Omar’s Revenge

I kind of wonder why Omar didn’t target Michael in Season 5. Michael mostly just ran a corner for Marlo but he was still muscle. And Omar was going after everyone who was muscle.

Michael and Kenard

Part of me feels like Michael wouldn’t have beaten Kenard in the earlier episodes of Season 4. I could be wrong but it feels like had the confrontation between Namond and Kenard happened in let’s say Episode 4 or 5 of Season 4, Michael would’ve just observed rather than beat Kenard to the ground.

Bodie’s Death

It’s crazy because Marlo would’ve wanted Bodie gone from screaming “Fuck Marlo” when he saw Little Kevin’s body coming out the vacant.

How To Avoid Repetitiveness As Much As Possible In Objective Prose

In third person objective prose, you can’t explicitly name emotions for any character. Nor can you dive into their thoughts. I just wanted to ask how you can heavily imply emotions in ways that are clear enough for readers without repeating the same process across the whole novel?

Snoop and Marlo

I wish Marlo and Snoop had more scenes together. I know Snoop is more so Chris’s protege but I still think it would’ve been interesting to see them have more talks and etc.
