Can you do a ride along?

This is a question for the Vline staff here. Is it possible to apply for a ride along. For context, I’ve applied for a job as a trainee train driver and I’d love to get a proper sense of the job. Obviously I’ve watched videos and read as much as I can but it would be so great to do a work experience day. Is this possible or are those driver cabins strictly staff only?

Very scary moment riding home from work today. Tesla SUV had pulled up behind a long tram at the lights, the tram doors were shut but they stayed behind the tram. I cycled past and up to the lights. There were parked cars in the left lane ahead so I wasn’t worried about cars trying to pass the tram. Took off on the green light and the tram starts dinging like crazy, all of sudden the Tesla shoots past trying to beat the tram and misses me by centimetres. So fast and so silent. A second later another car tries to make it through, clips me with the side mirror then slams on the brakes because there is no room between the tram and the parked cars, they missed the tram by a millimetre. Just terrifyingly stupid driving by both cars and a big reminder to me to just take the whole fucking lane.
