Ok so I’ve been an industrial/commercial tech for about 15yrs now, union trained here in Cincinnati/Dayton Ohio region and have worked on pretty much any type of system out there besides like ultra low temp -50°F stuff but other then that I do a lot of refrigeration work on all kinds of systems. Anyways I’m having a huge problem with this medium temp walk-in cooler at this restaurant that we took over and whoever worked on this system before us has just rigged the shit out of this before we got to it. Anyways the original call was the box wasn’t keeping temp and hasn’t been keeping temp for sometime and would only get down to out 43-45°f! I looked up all the info on the system components and the compressor is about 6,700btu’s and the evaporator is about 9000-9500btu rating using 404a from what the supply house told me when they looked up the units with me! Before talking with the guys that I deal with at the supply house which have helped me a lot over the years because they have a really good refrigeration guy that I talk to whenever I come across something weird! So originally I found the txv was oversized and it was a 1ton to 1-1/2 ton valve so we got a new txv for 404a, externally equalized with a blue orifice in the valve that was built and we double checked the orifice size inside the distributor which is a L-1/2! So everyone I’ve talked to said the system is slightly mismatched but should work in theory with how everything is setup, but for some reason after charging it up and clearing the sight glass on it I’m running high head and high suction pressure. No matter what I do I can’t seem to get my pressures right on it even when I adjust the valve stem all the way in or anything I’ve tried besides letting gas out of it to get my pressures to lower down. After letting gas out I roughly got my pressures to where they need to be but we can’t seem to get the box temp below 45-50 degrees and the sight glass is flashing a decent amount after letting the gas out! I’m beyond out of ideas or thoughts here on how to proceed next and all the equipment and info is in the pictures above! If someone could possibly drop me some ideas of what they possibly think this could be I’d greatly appreciate it a lot! Thank you all and let me know what you guys all think here!
