Hi everyone. I have a senior cat (FIV+) who had his remaining four teeth removed in December due to stomatitis. He’s also recently been diagnosed with CHF and is on gabapentin, furosemide, and a blood thinner.

Ever since the dental surgery he’s had difficulty eating pretty much anything. The only food he’s able to take without yelping in pain are Delectables. We’ve seen 4 different vets at this point; two said the surgery didn’t resolve his stomatitis and continued to give him clindamycin or clavamox (which appear to be ineffective), one said it was just “an area of irritation”, a “food grain”, and he’ll have to just eat around it, and the vet at the teaching hospital ER said he no longer had any signs of stomatitis at all.

There is an area of redness and inflammation on his lower gum, no sign of pus. Any solid food is painful. Nothing seems to help. Does anyone have any idea what else this could be? I’m not asking for a specific diagnosis but ideas for bases we haven’t covered yet. Are there any oral meds or remedies for cats on the market that we might not have been told about? Even the gabapentin doesn’t seem to be working. I appreciate any suggestions as I’m heartbroken for this poor little guy. He’s been through so much.
