New here (dog to make you smile)
Hi everyone! My name is Myka and I'm a 23 yr old who was just confirmed for IC/OAB. Here's my story.
Mid january I got one of the worst UTIs of my life and ever since have had the usual IC symptoms; burning when I pee, urgency, frequency, you know the drill. Saw two urgent cares, two GPs, and finally got in to see a urologist. They started me on some samples they had for the new gemtesa, but once those ran out (why did they even give them to me in the first place) insurance refused to cover it because there were "other medications". so they switched me to one, it didn't work, and now I'm on myrbetric.
I got a cystoscopy, and the one to two day recovery time is ACTUALLY A FUCKING LIE. Not only cause I'm a diabetic, but also because, according to lots of posts on here, the bladder and urinary system heal insanely slow. They numbed me, and so it was more uncomfortable than painful. It was a flex-scope and they found NOTHING. Not a single thing. Which sealed the deal on IC.
This was simply a "Hey how are y'all" post, but we're all in the same boat. If y'all have questions about diabetes and how it interacts with IC, I'll happily answer questions!!! I hope you're all doing the best you can, and here's to getting some answers soon. 🩷
