Hi all, long time listener first time caller…

Wonder if I could ask for some advice. 32M doctor, needing to pay some CGT on 25/26 share disposal, and also claim higher-rate tax relief from SIPP contributions.

I signed up to do self-assessment with HMRC for the first time, but realise that there exists both a pension-relief application form and also a real-time CGT reporting tool now with HMRC.

HMRC’s “do I need to fill in a self assessment?” tool says yes I do, on the basis I have CGT to pay. Is that outdated since the CGT tool exists?!

I have no other reason, other than those two, to be doing a self assessment. If I CAN just use those two tools… can I de-register from submitting a self-assessed return?!

TIA!

Hi guys, quick question because I'm losing my mind! It's niche, so bear with.

I have a black tie/dress shirt from a standard Jermyn Street make (Roderick Charles) and my dress shirt studs just keep pulling out - like the buttonhole is way too big for the size of the back of the stud (Ede and Ravenscroft).

How do I stop this happening, short of just sewing the buttonholes almost fully closed? Is there anything I can affix to the back of the stud to stop it pulling through? TIA!
