I nearly spat out my coffee when I heard this line about Greenland.

Maybe I've taken a bit of creative liberty with the title, but I certainly didn't expect a sitcom from the 1980s to casually suggest using Greenland in a geopolitical game.

Apparently, the solution to the Middle East conflict was to take Greenland and give it to the Palestinians.

As a Dane, I have just one thing to say:

Senior citizens of America, please stop trying to give away parts of the Kingdom of Denmark.

In 1987, The Golden Girls suggested solving the Middle East conflict by giving Greenland to the Palestinians.

Watching this in 2026, especially as a Dane, was almost surreal. A decades-old sitcom casually treating Greenland as a geopolitical bargaining chip has somehow become much more topical than the casual gag the writers intended.

The episode is Empty Nests: Season 2, Episode 26.

The Golden Girls were behind the Greenland agenda all along

I was watching an old Golden Girls episode and uncovered something I, as a Dane, found just a tiny bit interesting.

In Season 2, Episode 26, a character suggests solving the Middle East conflict by giving Greenland to the Palestinians.

Now, decades later, Greenland is once again a hot topic.

I'm not saying The Golden Girls are behind today’s conflict, but maybe we should investigate why senior citizens are so determined on territorial acquisitions.
