withdrawal.

hello. i quit lexapro maybe 6 weeks ago after being on it for 7.5 weeks due to it not being the right med for me and making what i was going thru significantly worse. i did a 3 week taper from to 10mg, 5mg for 2 weeks then 2.5mg for a week. while most of my physical withdrawal symptoms have almost subsided i still have maybe mental anxiety? while going thru withdrawal i developed a huge fear of going crazy, like developing psychosis or something. i also started having terrible intrusive thoughts. i lived my whole life normal without weird thoughts or anything like that. this is all new to me & i only started lexapro for something i was going thru at the time. i never dealt w anxiety or depression my whole life. i see many ppl talk abt how they had many physical withdrawal symptoms but i dont really see any about mental withdrawal symptoms. has anyone ever dealt with anything similar ? i’m genuinely drained & im starting to lose hope w this whole situation🥲

withdrawal

I took Lexapro for 7.5 weeks for suicidal ideation caused by a steroid injection I was given, instead of it helping it caused a paradoxical reaction for me. I was then told to quit cold turkey from 10mg which I didn't because I knew how bad withdrawal couldve gotten. I then tapered myself off from 10mg in 3 weeks going from 10mg to 5mg for 2 weeks then 2.5mg for a week. Today makes 6 weeks since I stopped and my withdrawal symptoms so far have been :

• severe anxiety

• severe crying spells/depressive episodes

• a fear of going crazy / losing touch with reality

• intrusive dark thoughts that's taking a toll on me mentally I've never experienced such dark thoughts!

• severe fatigue

• severe cognitive fog ( so bad I can't even think of words to say while conversating with others )

• severe disassociation

• vision problems ( I seen a eye dr and my vision got significantly worse starting Lexapro )

• headaches that are out of this world!!

• ear sensitivity/some type of noise like I'm underwater all day long

• lose of appetite

• heart palpations

• nightmares

• eye floaters / flashes of lights in my eyes

I'm just wondering if anyone else experienced this? This has been very rough for me considering the fact that I lived a perfectly normal life before taking Lexapro.. I feel like I'm stuck this way forever and won't heal. It's been 6 weeks man & I'm starting to lose hope 😞😞😞😞 I just want to feel normal again. For a few days last week I could go out but then I noticed I can't even walk in a store without feeling dizzy and off balance. I stopped communicating and going out with friends and family because I'm so depressed and terrified of all of this. I thought a 3 week taper was okay considering the fact I only took it for 7.5 weeks. Lexapro has taken my brain places I didn't think it could go. Does it get better eventually??? I need advice or help! I seen a psychiatrist and they recommended I exercise and do therapy because of how sensitive I am to medication.
