The IRS deposited a very large sum in our bank account about 6 weeks ago. We’re waiting for a letter of explanation but nothing has arrived. I called directly several time but was kicked out of que each time because our current taxes had not been processed. Our accountant knows nothing about it. We paid a very large tax bills in the past and are wondering if we overpaid. How common is it to receive money that’s not related to your current filing? How common are errors on the end of the government? This is quite confusing. How can I reach a real person regarding this?
