What to do with 2002 Ford Thunderbird

Family member has a 2002 LE TBird that is "Thunderbird Blue" and has the hard and soft top. It has about 84,000 miles on it and was in one paint-damage-only accident that does appear on the Carfax report. It has been sitting in a garage for 10 years and has all the issues you might expect from that, including dry rubber, dead battery etc. Interior is pristine and exterior is too, apart from the dust from sitting so long.

The dealership service dept. has it started but says it will be at least $4800 to get it driveable again. Asked the used car dept. if they would take the car as they would not be paying retail for repairs and they said they'd give us $2k for it and list it for $7k as a wholesale or parts proposition, if I understood correctly.

Google says we can get $9-$13k and a dealership might be able to get $13k-$16k with a "hasn't set in the garage for ten years" car. We are in a densely-populated metro area, so if we tried to sell it on our own, there is an audience nearby, I suppose. It does take premium gas and we have some of the highest gas in the country, so there's that as well.

Should she repair it and sell it herself or give the car up to the dealership? We're completely on the fence so I suggested we come here and see what more experienced sellers have to say. She doesn't need the money but doesn't want to waste money, either (health prevented her from driving it, and she has finally faced the fact that she's never going to get to the point where she can, again).
